I THINK I like this tune, although I'm not quite sure. It doesn't start out too good, with a very noicy sound, but it just keeps getting better, almost to the end. It is kinda repetitive, but there's also a lot of varation (trance style). The sound gets really good about halfway through the song, and then again even better towards the end. If the author had cut down a bit on the noisy parts, this tune would have been really neat. This songs contains 84 different patterns, of which only one gets repeated once. Nice. The samples are good, and the author has made good use of panning and volume envelopes. There aren't really any effects, but that doesn't matter.

Now, I like Monty Python as much as the next guy, and I must admit it was slightly amusing to hear 'blow thy enemies to tiny bits' in a song like this. Unfortunately, it's not a very good song. It is very repetitive, and it was probably made with the sole purpose of using the MP samples. You don't really notice any real talent here. This is the kinda tune you hear once, maybe rip the samples from, and that's it. This song contains 37 samples (of which 2 are never used), and takes up about 1.7 megs (!). You'd never notice all the samples just listening to the song, and on top of that, a lot of them stink. Actually the song lacks just about all technical qualities, without effects, and no effective use of envelopes. Proper chord work, harmonies, structure and such are not present. It gets 4.5 for the humor.

A very silent dance song, with a very soft mood. The synth, string and piano have been put together well to give a very mellow feeling. No big suprises here, just pure quality work. You sense some work has been put into this, dispite the lack of originality and variation. Well suited for listening to, whilst just sitting in the dark. I think a lot of thought has gone into the choice of samples for this one. They fit together well, all adding to the mellow sound, eg. the drums are clearly there, but without being dominant. As often seen in xm's, much work has been put into envelopes, and no effects have been used. It has been done well, as well as the chord-work, and the piano lead, which blends in perfectly. Now all that lacks is a bit more variation.

This is a very nice piece of instrumental work, and clearly the author has a lot of talent. The different pieces work well together, and there isn't any real repetition. Maybe a bit more work could have gone into the piano in the beginning, though. All in all this tune isn't too inventive, but it is very good indeed. The author hardly uses effects in the patterns themselves, but has instead relied almost solely on envelopes. And it is very well done. The instrumenst sound good, and are well aligned to each other. The author show good understanding for composition and chords. It lacks a bit when it comes to leads, as mentinoned above. A bit more work on the piano, and this song would be reaching towards a 10.

This tune has a very crisp and clean sound. The song doesn't start out too well, but halfway through it gets a lot better. The start is let down by a slightly dodgy chord change, too much repetition, and a pretty bad piano lead. It has a very random sound. The latter part, however, is a lot better, although it too repeats the same part over and over. The variation lies in which samples play the chords, and the drums (more or less). The author makes good use of effects here. He has this thing with retriggering, even on the piano. I'm no sure whether I like the effect, but it does add... something. He also makes good use of the channels, reaching as many as 29. The samples are very nice, and pretty well looped, and you don't notice any clicking.

This tune would be very well suited to be the intro-song of some crime-magazine, or something (The Justice Files :). It has a kinda low, gloomy sound. Reminded me slightly of the X-Files theme. With no real lead, but with a very present bass. Also, the way the orchestral samples rise and rise to that excitement-sound. Maybe it could have gotten a slightly higher rating, say 7 or 7.5, but it is only good for background music, thus I give it 6.5. But it's definately an ok tune. The author has chosen to rely solely on panning envelopes for effects, and not a whole lot of them. But it works well, although a bit more technical work could have improved the song slightly. The samples are ok, although the piano and the orchestral sample aren't tuned exactly to each other. You can hear it, even without listening for it. If a bit more work and care had just been put into this tune... ah, well....

This is a rock song, which is always hard to track. Normally a song like this would be based on lyrics, but when tracking, you usually need to use a guitar instead. Fountain of Sighs is a good example of this. Unfortunately, the author of this song tried without a lot of success. The guitar-piece is repeated over and over, and you begin to think you're hearing the same pattern over and over. The song does have a B-part, but it doesn't really help. It's hard to make good hard rock guitar samples, which can clearly be heard here. They really sound bad. The other samples are mediocre. The author apparently intended to use panning envelopes, but they're not turned on (!). Effects are used to some extent, but especially the guitar could use a bit more.

Take a large handful of lousy chord-changes. Add a cup samples that don't fit together (in style). Finally add a pinch of weird changes in style, and stir well. Now you've got Goob Reverb. It start out not THAT bad, although you notice right away that the samples don't fit together in style. Then it goes bad. The B-section is simply a complete change in style, it's almost like two (bad) songs in one. And the ending just plainly suxx. The samples are actually ok, without being great. They are, as mentioned, poorly chosen, as they don't fit together in style/sound. The author only uses instrument settings to a very small degrees, but it's ok done. There aren't really any effects in the song itself, so there's nothing to say about that.

A 4-channel tune with an attitude! This one starts out smooth, but goes funky after the intro. Nice drums, a funky bassline and some nice synth make up the core, with lots a small variations throughout the song. Unfortunately it loops, but that really doesn't matter all that much when it's quality music like this nifty little tune. Only real drawback may be the sound, which is a bit old. But the song is from 1996 :) The effects in the this tune are used to great... err... effect! They really support the tune well, without becoming too dominant, and you really don't notice them, unless you look for them. The samples are mostly nice. There are a few bad loops, but you'd never notice when just listening to the song. And all of this has been crammed into 4 channels. Nice.

Apparently, this is the first tune the author has ever made. I'll just pull out one of my own favorite tracking rules: Never release the first few songs you make. Especially not if they're like this one. It sounds like some sort of experimental piano-battering. No tune, no understanding of the chords, no rythm. No music. No effects whatsoever are used in this tune. For the echo-effect, the author has actually loaded the same sample 4 (four!) times, each with a lower default volume. The samples are actually ok... they've just been used badly.

This is nothing but noice. The beginning makes you think, that here comes a sinister synth tune, but instead a lot of noise is added. Then some more noises is added, taken away again, and so on. And the entire song just changes between two half-notes. The reason it gets 2.5, is the not-all-THAT-awful intro. The samples are actually ok, except for a bad loop and such. It should be possible to make a MUCH better song using these samples. The song hardly uses any effects, and the ones there are hardly have any impact.

The first thing that struck me when I heard this song, was the very high-quality sound, and the nice chord-changes. It does indeed sound very well. However, there is not a whole lot to it. There is no real lead, and the B-part doesn't really live up to the nice beginning. Also, the song just fades at the end. But what little there is sound nice! This song really uses instruments very well, with multiple instruments for several of the samples (which are of a nice quality, too, except for the 'choir'). Lots of panning and fading gives the song a very professional sound. No real effects are used, but I guess the instruments made that unnecessary.

At first I thought this was meant to be a chip-song, because it has a very 'chippy' sound to it. I also thought it wasn't that bad. But about 20 secs into the tune, I was attacked by the drums. They are horrible, with a very annoying snare drum. There is a lead which isn't that bad, but you really don't notice it because of the drums. The B-section more or less sounds like two 'chords', because you really don't notice the lead. The ending is kinda cute, though, which made me raise the rating by 1 point. Technically, this song is very simple. Few effects are used, and with the same settings all the time. Also, the the pitch is generally very high, which works for the 'chippy' samples, but since this is not a chip-tune, it sounds a bit... bad. The samples are of a rather low quality, and the loops aren't that well made. They have an 'old' sound.
