Liam "the Lemming" Hesse has quickly become one of my favorite artists that I can't believe I missed of the time. This tune starts out quite chip-tune like, but certain power chords that come in tell me it's something much more. The song title is an accurate description of the music as it quite well conjures up the feelings and imagery of discovering and exploring an alien landscape. |

This was featured on the Kosmic (KLF) 1994 Christmas album. I kind of wish I knew who Lorkyril was/is because tracks like this show a promising talent. Unfortunately, there only seems to be two tracks tagged as from this artist, both on the same disk release (XMash Crammed song is the other), with no indication of any other groups or handles this artist may have written under. Kind of sad really. (Edit: After listening to XMash Crammed song #3, TMA's guess of "Floss" is probably accurate.) The song has a kind of melancholy journey feel to it, with various highs and lows, the artist does a good job conveying the feeling of loss in music, of hope and worry, but seems to end on a note of hope for the future. I'm not quite sure how this track was selected for a Christmas album, but I'm glad it was. This tune has been one of my favorites ever since I first heard it back in 94 (when I actually followed Kosmic). |
