Title: Need For Madness Music
Post by: Fozzie on October 11, 2008, 06:16:30
Hello people, was playing this game http://www.radicalplay.com/madness/game.html (http://www.radicalplay.com/madness/game.html)

...and I thought the music was class. Looked at the credits and saw this site under the music credit. I'm loving the site so far, lots of good music going on

What are the track names for the tracks on the Need For Madness game? I'll keep searching for now

Peace,

Dan

The credit is wrong because the archive consists of thousands upon thousands of modules and it is not affiliated with most of the authors. I did try the game and I didn't recognize any of the tracks I heard with my 15 years of listening to module music. That's why I think it's safe to say they aren't very famous, and could prove very hard to identify.

If this was a downloadable game, it would most likely be very easy to identify the tracks and their authors from the original module files. But these are just low-quality recordings and it would have been the game author's responsibility to a) get the permissions to use the tracks and b) properly credit the authors. Have you tried asking him? The current "credit" is pretty worthless unless you value being able to find this forum, indirectly report a case of abuse and piss off a couple of nerds in the process.

Yeah, the credit to the site is not the way it should go, nevermind - thats not your fault at all. The Mod Archive does not license music out to 3rd parties. If anyone should be credited it's the artist themselves.

raina's welcoming message perhaps a bit too cynical for a welcoming reply, but he's right all the same.

Still. Enjoy your stay and enjoy the collection of music on offer here. :)

Fasten your seat belts... I have the answer! You will need Winzip (optional), and a mod tracker. I use Modplug Tracker (http://www.modplug.com) Here is what you do:
1. Go to www.arcadetown.com and search need for madness.
2. Download it, then install it.
3. Go to your C: drive, into program files, and into NeedforMadness_at.
4. Go into music. You will see a bunch of .zipo files. There are two things you can do: unzip them with winzip, or open them with Modplug Tracker.
5. Once they are open, click File, Save as Wave of Mp3, whichever you like more.
6. You need to do this for each track individually.
7. Enjoy. I have artists' names if you want them.

Honestly, I think that payware like WinZip is kinda obsolete these days. :P Instead of using trials, you can simply use free programs like 7Zip to extract zip archives. :)

Yeaaaaah...

Heck windows XP handles zip files directly, crap though... 7zip is ace, otherwise a sound piece of advice sci.dude, thanks for contributing :D

Why step 5? You get much further by examining the sample names in a tracker and doing searches based on them. (Unfortunately it seems the game author has trashed most of the original song titles.)

Btw: IZArc (http://www.izarc.org/). Replace step 6 with "select .zipo files, open context menu, select extract".
