The Mod Archive
The Mod Archive is a huge archived collection of pieces of music that have been composed in computer applications called Trackers.
The reason they are called this is because the music plays using the bundled samples on multiple audio channels - tracks.
If you're familiar with MIDI files, it's a tiny bit like those, except the instruments come bundled with the module file so no matter where you play it - it will always sound the same (unlike relying on MIDI wave-table samples, which vary between sound cards).
plus... modules are far more awesome! ;)

Getting Started
If you're new to the concept of music modules, then download a module player (like XMPlay, or check out our regularly updated list of Recommended Players List).
With a player, you can play back the music modules. You could even download a free Tracker programme and watch them playing, or even get into composing some yourself!
