Here is a good example of what I like in a chip song : good arrangement, fast pace, some basic but nice instruments, catchy melody. It is simple, but good. It contains also some dance elements such as classic dance hi-hat and closed hi-hat, removing from it the chippy sound that we can find on those type of songs. It contains also some rock elements, such as the snare. Well in overall it is pretty tough to say the exact genre of this song. Dance-Rock? Rock-Chip? Chip-Dance? The technical side now. He uses a lot effects (Note Cut, Volume) and have made a good use of panning. It contains 17 samples, and no instruments (for a song made in 2001, it is strange) If I haven't seen the date I'd thought that this mod would have been made in 1996 or earlier. Well in overall : good song, quite simple, hearable enough to deserves a 8 ;). -- DJ Bourg |

I usally don't review this kind of song but I found its melodies absolutely charming. This song has got a relaxing flow during all the song... Everything is perfect here. The little flute along with the strings just make of this song a real masterpiece of this genre. I have only one complaint : why does this songs fades out??? I think it was good enough to get a defined outro! It just sounds unfinished, which decreases the final rating of the song. If the song had got also some more ambient/celtic elements it would get an higher score (probably 10). From this song, at hearing, I expected it to contain 8 or 9 samples, but after looking I saw that 23 instruments were used in it. It has got also some panning effects. Well, in overall : a wonderfull ambient/easy listening song, relaxing, good even if it is beatless (no drum instruments, just flute and strings). -- DJ Bourg |

A little interresting chip-tune. The main tunes reminds me something ;) The samples used with this song are kinda "funny" : I liked the "wooop" bass although. OK you won't rave all night on this song but it's nice to hear sometimes... On technical side... I can say that it is looped (I figured out after 5 or 6 minutes) and contains the same basic elements than on a chiptune. Well haven't got nothing else to say on it. :) -- DJ Bourg |

What a good piece of song! I think it is one of earliest AceCream's song, but I just discovered it recenltly. Beautiful melodies, right chords, everything just sounds perfect here. With some filters and more arrangements it could sound like a real tune mixed using professional equipment. I espiacelly liked the piano and the stirngs blended together. AceCream used to be a very respected trance tracker at TraxinSpace. It is understandable. I hope that he'll get as popular here as in TiS. In the technical side of this song, this is almost the same story than in musical side : he used a lot effects, like the macros in the strings (for resonance), and used a lot the panning, so the song doesn't sound "plain". So in overall : this is a song that I'd recommend to everyone who want to hear melodic trance at "its highest point". And also check out his other works such as Sea Side Dreams and Over the Ocean (both on TiS). Big thumb up from me ;) -- DJ Bourg |

The beginning of this song is weird...with thoses vox it is almost frightening ;) but at 0:40 a very good melody appears and that increases a lot the musical rating. The ambiance is very good and very well defined despite the noise in the background. Now the minuses: 1st, the song is "uncleaned", you have to use a very good noise filter engine to listen to it becuase it's very noisy, and 2nd thing (if you know Diktaattori style you probably know what is it) it is LENGHT!!! Diktaattori, why the hell your songs ARE SO SHORT?? I would enjoy listening to all of them at least for 5 minutes! Please make them longer!! In his songs, Diktaattori is always using effects : this song's not an exception. The panning is very good, and the use of note delays and Zxx macros are putting some quality despite the bad-sampled instruments in this song. If this song have been longer, with less noises, believe me, I'd rate it 10/10. Dik, you really know how to track!! Keep up the good work dude! -- DJ Bourg |

7.5 Ko (!), 2:34 minutes, it's the "normal" size and length for a chip tune. The overall tune is very good, but it lacks a bit of something... It's a little but slow and repetitive, but when you like it, after a certain time it doesn't matter anymore for you... There's 6 channels in this mod, and 5 instruments. It's a pretty simple song, made in 95, but good and enjoyable. |

Here is a big file size (1.6 MB zipped) but WOW ! What a good megamix ! There's techno, rave, trance, progressive, and this is far among one of the best mod megamix I ever heard. This megamix contains 11 tracks released by the Thol Music members. The one I liked the most was the first track, Leonardo (The Re-Remix), and the guy who reviewed the original mod said that techno is just some noises (If you don't like it, why reviewing that ? I don't care if you don't like techno, let the other techno lovers reviewing it with pleasure instead of putting your useless comments here) Returning to the megamix, it is a long track (over 22 minutes) but it's worth the time to download and to listen. There's someting weird at end : after the last track, it seems that the part of another song was added by mistake... Overall : if you want to hear a good megamix with great songs by great trackers, download this. There is nothing very important to say for this track... When I heard this one, I expected that more than 32 channels had been used, but 26 was enough :-) There's 100 samples in this song, and 240 patterns in all. This is an excellent work. |

This song have been composed in 1995, and for a song who have been made 6 years ago, it's pretty good. I like very very much the bassline, this is an old techno a little bit in the style of the early 90's dance songs. The string is pretty nice, it adds a ambient feeling... and the rave synth reminds me a 2 Unlimited style. There's a lot of female vocal samples, I think the composers put too much of them in the song. The only big problem with this song is that they set the samples too loud. So the sounding quality is very poor. In overall : this is a good old dance style, that the old Enigma fans will enjoy. This is a 4-channel module, in the old Mod Format. When I was listening to it for the first time I thought it has 16 channels or more... the samples are in good quality in overall, but like I said before some ones are too loud. |

Excellent eurodance track. Facts : I like very much the string at the beginning, the progression is good, the vocals are fabulous, and it has a very good drum sequence. The artist made a great use of all the instruments and they fit at the right place. The only complaint is that this song is too short ;-). I would enjoy to listening to it at least ... 10 minutes (hee hee). Overall : it is a worth download for all the Eurodance fans. It's a 28 channel FastTracker module (.xm). There's almost no effects. I found some portamento tone effects, but that's all. It would sound even better if some panning effects would've been used... Bah, I'm always seeking for mistakes ! ;-D It's simple, and it's great ! Keep it up, Mempheria ! |

First, this is a remix of a famous dance song of the 90s. Negative points : the synth at the beginning is very out-of-tune, we can guess that it was ripped. The vocal samples sound bad, it look likes he had some difficulties to put it correctly in the song. Positive points : there's a kind of progression in this mod. It's not like some that have 5 patterns repeated for 5 minutes. And the drum sequence is OK. Overall : for an Amiga mod file, made in 92, it's OK. Ok, let's say something : this mod is very old, it was made with Amiga I think. It's a 4 tracker module, so in term of quality it's very limited. No effects were used, only volume. Most of the samples have been ripped from the real song. The samples are in low quality, but while listening it's acceptable. Overall : i'd rather call it a missed copy of the original than a mod file. |
