Great samples, especially the bass, form a great foundation for the rest of the track. The song grooves on the big bass and just jams the melody instrument pretty much the entire time. Only weak point might be the fade-out ending. Would've liked to hear a more conclusive, satisfying end to such a great jam. Overall, more than competent tracking skills, and catchy-as-all-get-out for a first effort.
Technique, Arrangement, Composition (10/10)
For most of the song: two channels for the bass, one for a skeletal drum tap, one for the melody instrument. Nice effect use on the bass, and lots of good feeling w/ the melody instrument. Uses 4 channels only. Nice juggling work. These old style composed 4 channel mods always sound the best to my ears; "Chip" is no exception. Nice, thick sound. If you can make it work this well with 4, you probably know what you're doing.
Development (10/10)
Great clean samples, retro-styled. GREAT bass drop out almost a minute in... you really feel it when it kicks back in! Mix is really thick and in your face, which is great for a catchy little ditty like this.
Creativity (8/10)
Melody is a catchy little thing. Think you're probably supposed to just bob and bop to this tune, focus on being carefree. Melodic development is great throughout, although the ending does seem to just run out of steam and the track fades to a close.
Enjoyment (10/10)
Nothing makes me want to stop playing this. It's permanently in my collection.
