Filename: ff7lb3.it

The guy who tracked this put some serious hours into making this and kudos to him for that, seriously. This cover version of the Final Fantasy 7 "One Winged Angel" theme is spectacular, and probably the best you're gonna get in tracked format. Absolutly stunning. However, it requires looping, as it does not end.

Haha, quality - well apart from a couple of dodgy pitch bends in the beginning this one is another quality Final Fantasy cover, of the Chocobo Theme (the more upbeat one from Final Fantasy 7). My wife just shouted to me that this one is good, being that it's her that plays this game and that't the only reason why I recognise these songs - excellent - it loops aswell.

I'm going through a few of th F directory and keep on stumbling on some of these quality Final Fantasy cover songs. Yet again another interpretation of the Aerith/Aeries theme and a well done one at that too. Not a note missed, as far as I can tell - I know these tunes because my wife plays the game and I always overhear the music and having being brainwashed with it meh... nevermind - just download it! :)

Not a bad interpretation of the Final Fantasy 8 boss tune, My wife plays the final fantasy series so I get to hear this going off in the background all the time - and believe me, even if you don't intend on listening to it - it happens whether you like it or not. This one is tracked really well, a couple of dodgy samples but overall - nice one :)

This has to be one of the best Final Fantasy 7 cover tunes I have heard yet put into a module format. Absolutly spot on, especially for a by-ear interpretation (im guessing).

Orchestral ftw! A lovely example of what can be done in a tracker for orchestral and symphonic music. Clocking in at just under 7 minutes, this piece is worth the while to listen all the way through because it is far from repetative - it's got a lot of variation and some super progressions and melody developments. A very complicated piece of music - Recommended, excellent quality.

For a 4 channel mod, this delivers a very full sound and overall superb demostyle theme tune. I found this via random pick, nice surprise. The synthlead is very good and typical of it's era, if you like synthpop/demostyle then grab this as it will be worthwhile.

Unbelievably, this is a cover of a song that my uncle wrote. That's right, my uncle Karl is the vocalist of Bolt Thrower :) Cenotaph is one of their best songs, and this tracked version is pretty darn close of course without the vocals it's kinda relying a lot on the instrumental aspects which does take a lot of the power away. Still, if you like metal... grab this and grind on >:)

What the heck was it with the screening crew on the archive back in 1999? I mean this is a) obviously infringing copyright with the starwars samples and b) a very good example of what should have been rejected because it is borderline repetative and seems to have no musical direction whatsoever with the exception of some drum and loose bass progression. Think this is too harsh? This is 1.43mb, and doesn't touch what some other modules have done in a fraction of that. Disappointing.

Oh my I love my search engine. I've just found the module I've been looking for years - This is the theme title from the amazing polygon racing game "no second prize" by Thalion. It's got some great themes, guitar samples are spot on, well what are you waiting for? Download it.

I recognise the melody in the beginning of this, it's the same one to that module that begins Thalion's No Second Prize motorcycle game, I have no idea what it's called but I wish I knew. This module isn't very long, in fact it kinda gets going and then just expects you to loop it which isn't that attractive as the development isn't that great and borderes on the repetative and unimaginative.

This track doesn't really go anywhere, it's extremely repetative and monotonous just about anything that changes happens in the first minute or so, this track is 11 minutes long - so get an idea of how montonous this is, few developments occur with the exception of layering up some of the drums. It's nice in a background-mind-numbing way, though.

This sounds like some random excuse for music unless you know the history of this module - it's from the Budbrain Megademo - the bit that's showing a slideshow of a bunch of rather sexually graphic humourous pixelpainted artwork. So it's from a slideshow, nothing more :) In the context of music to listen to, it's not really worthwhile ;)

Orchestral - rare quality - This has to be one of the best recent additions that i've come across. Although I know this track from about 4 years ago when Gopher finished it, it has only arrived now because of the filesize limit-increase on the archive - and this is good enough justification reason for that if there was ever a need for one. So many themes, the delivery is awesome, this guy is a classical composer (obviously) Very much Recommended.

A classic module, it sounds so old - really coarse 8bit resolution samples and proud to show them. The melody on this track follows smoothly and is quite varied (and memorable). Synthpop through and through, shame the drums are not up to much though, the bass is also fairly monotonous in the parts where the theme isn't developing. Overall very good though.

Delightful, If you evern played the Superfrog game on the Amiga, this tune should jump right out at you. Delectable instruments, they have a cute yet squidgy feel about them, wonderfully steamlined to deliver a nicely flowing background piece of music (platform game, remember). Try and grab the whole series of Superfrog stuff, they are great.

If this tune was indeed by morpheus (this guy is known to have falsly claimed ownership of many other tracks on the archive, mostly top scoring top quality modules) this one sounds like it could have been composed by him though becuase it's about on-par with the sort of quality of a novice tracker. Not very exciting, a bit plain and repetative and simple. Not really worth the effort in downloading.

This is supposed to be a Terminator soundtrack cover, well, it's not. The melodies are off, wrong and only just come close. I suppose this being a very old mod (1994) goes some way to explain the terrible sample quality, but doesn't really go on to explain the half-arsed attempt. One of the poorer quality modules, I'm afraid :\

Although not a big D&B fan by any measure I can hear this is using a heavy metal influence which is far more prominent than the electronica elements. Apart from being fairly repetative, the variations and progressions slowly (but eventually) push the song along to a fairly mundane ending. Also, it is unfortunate that the drumming is so contiunous as it's easy to get distracted by it's lack of variation. Overall an above average piece for a modern release.

Soundtrack oriented piece but is let down by use of a totally inappropriate lead instrument (pipe organ?) still, not a total loss as the music progresses through a set of themes (subsongs). While the module isn't composed with particular expertise or attention to detail it's about average and is a satisfactory addition.

Hehe, an nice chippy-ish cute plinkyfest. This mod progresses nicely though some pleasant and cheerful melodies, jumping to and fro between a bunch of themes. Indeed a quality house tune, nice breaks and particular attention to the leads. Not too bad at 3 minutes in length. Sample quality is reasonable for an S3M and has plenty of tracker effect usage to entice some pleasant progressions, although not overly complicated and slightly monotonous in the chord progression, the overall piece is very good.

Despite the vocal sample containing a politically incorrect message (like i give a damn anyway) this is actually a pretty good tune, in actual fact the vocal sample is used in breaks to quite a comical effect (not intended, im fairly sure). Overall a neat piece although might be a little on the repetative side and the progressions of the bass/melody is minimal and monotonous

The artist mentions it's not as good as the original, and he's somewhat right ;) My main gripe with this is the out of sync beats, and the rather poorly chosen synth stab instrument which grinds away in your ear unpleasantly. Overall not really very good, but has some redeeming qualities in the fact it is only 3 minutes long.

Oh dear. Apart from the fact that this song is using WAY too much original samples from the original song, this is really quite boring for a "mix", it's almost the same as the original song by Rob Miles except it's far inferior, that said the original was pretty crap anyway. My main problem with this is that the use of megasamples is clearly in violation of copyright.

I dont know what it is about tonight but for some reason the random mod picker is picking some good stuff! This is a nice bit of chillout music with a side helping of jungle-esque or D&B, i'm not too up on the genre classification but I do know what sounds nice and this is nice :) It doesn't really go anywhere, it does get a bit repetative but the nature and mood seems to drive this to an advantage.

This is a cover of Robert Miles' Fable. A piece from the Dreamland album. I remember this quite well because I used to love that stuff back in the day. This module is a reasonable take on the song, although it's no where near as thumping or driving - the piano is just a little too plastic. Not bad at all :) Good if you like the original.

This is one of the better Reggae modules I've come across. That doesn't really say much though because there aren't that many I have - however with this one it's fairly good, progressive melodies, nicely augmented accompinent and development of the melody helps keep the somewhat generic reggae beat interesting until it reaches the end, if you can call it one. Still, recommended if you like this sort of thing.
