Not much to this one, but sounds relaxing. I particularly liked the use of the 909 percussion, the main melody of the song is very quiet and distant and the kick tends stands out a lot from the rest of the instruments. Perhaps this song is too short, you can't really get into it because just as you are it finishes abruptly. I don't agree with the size considering the limited variety of the piece.

An absolute classic of the early 90's, I first got this MOD when I got ProTracker V1.1B for the Amiga 500+, it came with the program on a coverdisk. Ever since I bought my PC I never used the Amiga again and was delighted to see this at ModArchive. It may be 5 years old but it still kickz! It has a great bassline and a a superb techno beat to it, it also includes some good use of the choir chords. I just love how the bassline is made, lots of great use of the portamento function. It has a nice slow intro which leads into one of U4IA's best MOD's in my opinion. The techno style beat really rolls through the song and has some nice little touch ups. A real classic of it's time.

After a strange sample which I was'nt too keen on it explodes into a good piece with some nice use of the dist. guitars especially in the choruses. There were also some nice drum solo's slotted in as well. Some of the samples did not fit in with the style making it sound amateuristic, the song did get a bit repetitive in some places. Worth a try though if you like hard rock.

A remix of a (classic) old song, the artist has done well to mix in the dance style with this one. The main instruments fitted in well with the mood of the original song. Perhaps one problem is the large size, the song has limited variety for such a size. But the artist makes up for this by good use of the effects (panned echoing for example) on the main instruments, in all a very good reproduction.

The artists make good use of the bass samples, they all fit in with each other well. The strings provide a good feel to the piece, but the main theme of the song repeats itself and the only change is a loss or gain of another instrument. This does'nt affect the song too much because the bass instruments keeps the piece interesting. I liked the use of sample offset on one of the bass instruments, in fact I liked the layout of all of the bass instruments. They all co-ordinated with each other providing a rigid structure for the rest of the song. The only problem I noted was the intro bass sample sounded out of time (I don't know why but it just does!), it tended to push the rest of the instruments played alongside it out of time as well.

I liked the use of the strings, it provided a relaxing theme for the song. After a dwell in the song where it becomes quite repetitive it gains an upbeat drum rhythym which improves the song greatly. But I wasn't too keen on the vocal that was used alongside this new drum rhythym, it became repetitive and slightly annoying after a few patterns. There is a very discreet tempo change halfway through the song where it changes the theme of the song slightly. I quite liked the echoing sounds of the intro combined with the soft strings, it gave the feeling of emptiness until the great rolling congo drums come in to back up the song.

A transition of an ACDC song that sounds quite good, I have never heard the original but this gives me quite a good idea of what it would sound like. My only question is what is the strange sound that comes in on the intro? :) One problem I noticed was when the vocals come in, they did'nt seem to fit in perfectly and are slightly cut off. The ending comes in too abruptly and gives me the impression that the song is unfinished. But the guitar sequences fit in well and make the song sound like it has more than 4 channels.

A good techno tune here, Sybaris has made a good use of the string instruments and backed the song up well with a solid rhythym. My only objection is the strange industrial organ samples, but this is industrial so why complain? After a while it breaks into a very nice song with a good melody provided by the strings. I liked the length of the tune (7'14''), it provides an for interesting piece of music which you can really get into. The song shows little signs of repetition and is well thought out all of the 7 minutes.

What a great recreation! The intro sounds superb, and leads into a song which sounds just as good as the original. Everything that was in the original seems to be in this. What else can I say? MC Dreamer has chosen the samples very well, they are all very good quality. I especially liked the mechanical sounds used in the intro, very realistic use of the stereo function. Definately worth the download!

Some good stuff here for the very short length. Very simple with the bassdrum and bass, although a nice piano melody comes in to enhance the tune. As I have already explained this is a very short tune (1'18''). For its length it still sounds repetitive, but is obviously aimed as a background music for a demo that the artists group has made.

Hmm... an OK harmony in this tune but its a shame it's hidden by and awful trumpeting sound which appears to be a mixture of random notes. Because the trumpeting sound is much louder than the other instruments it gives it a really kills the rest of the tune. This is only 2 minutes long and I'm pretty glad it is! The song may be quick to download but some of the samples sound awful.

I'm not so sure about the style of this music, it gave me the impression of a battle kind of song. It is a well written piece which reflects well the style of the middle ages. The main part of this song is the 'ting' sample which is backed up by a solid drum rhythym. The artist made good use of the stereo panning function but I did'nt see a reason for the sample offset. A lot of unnecessary volumes were put in on samples which were already at the correct volume. These are only small and make no effect to the song but do waste time. On the good side though, it is still a great piece and has been well thought out.

From the very start of this track I knew what kind of music this would be which is good. It does'nt hang around with a slow intro, and after a couple of patterns it breaks into a good techno track. The breakbeat seemed to fit in well with the rest of the instruments and the style. Although Techno isn't a style I prefer I still enjoyed listening to this, it reflects the classic 'Hardcore Techno' style. The use of sample offset on the bass also gave the track a sort of Acid feeling. The artist made good use of pauses and breaks in the tune to show that a variation was coming.

A novel idea this one, the artist has pulled this off quite well! After the intro came a nice little track with some good mixing, the style worked in harmony with the dark theme of the original. Some good samples have been used in this one, especially the bass samples which sounded good against the strings. This was a good idea for a remix but the artists 'add-on' at the end wasn't very well thought out. It was basically the string theme shuffled around a little, but apart from that a good attempt at a remix.

I did'nt particularly like the intro, the bass type samples did'nt seem to fit in with the style. But, after this intro it moved on into a more atmospheric song with some good chording. The artist makes a good lead with the horn instrument and the piano works well with the style. Maybe some effects would have improved the lead samples, vibrato for instance, would have helped boost the horns. Samples which clash such as the zap sound tend to make the song sound experimental and disrupts the style.

A great mellow tune here, very relaxing to listen to. Although the main part of the song is looped it doesn't become noticable after a few minutes listening and you can become drawn into it. An aspect of this song which puzzled me was that the speed changed with every pattern, with every speed change the length of the pattern changed as well. It would have been easier just to stick to one speed. Apart from this small detail it is a simple tune and the piano makes a good base for the rest of the instruments.

A good song, but it would be even better if it wasn't a complete rip and paste job. Perhaps if the tracker actually wrote the song I would be understand why they made it. A little more time should have been spent on making sure that the samples fitted in with each other. The tracker should have considered MP3 to compress the song into WAV if they wished to distribute a recording (Considering that MP3 was available). The recording quality reflects in the modules size and perhaps lowering the quality would have been appreciated.

The artist uses some good little breaks in this one, although the snare build up comes in too often. Some attention should have been paid to the vocals because they appear to be out tune in some places. Despite what I have just said this tune can be quite catchy in some places. This is a good length tune at about 5 minutes but does repeat itself.

An old style mod probably written on the Amiga, this is number 6 in a series of Quantum mods. I personally have one myself (Quantum-X), and they both sound similar. It is a simple track which would be classed as average in the early 90's but not so good by today's standards. A catchy little tune though as I find myself humming it now and again! Perhaps the author should have worked more on the touching up of this mod. Some effects and better samples would have been useful to improve it.

A simple but effective track, and is enhanced greatly by the use of stereo panning. The song is mainly made up of arpeggios of the chords throughout, which makes it relaxing to listen to. The problem with using such a simple method of composition is the limited choices you have for the rest of the song. This may be why the song is just over 3 minutes, but it is still a very good song considering the amount of dance that is currently in the charts at this standard.

This artist shows that he can use small samples and produce a very good quality tune. The guitar lead makes good use of the portamento function and the drums and bass back the song up very well. The quality of this tune tells me that the artist has worked on many songs before this one. This is definitely worth downloading considering the 100K size.

An OK tune considering the artist was only 12 years of age. Although the use of piano could have been improved as it becomes repetitive. Perhaps the artist should use a little variation in the tune, this would make it more interesting to listen to. Considering the age of the artist this tune is above average for the age group.
