Very good jazz track. Dunno why it's been classified as techno.

This is synth rock. I don't think the word 'respect' is ever likely to pass the lips of a real rocker. Vocal samples poor, rock background better, but the rap-style influences don't fit well with the rest of the track. A bit of an oddball. And why boast that the track was done in under half an hour? That's not generally a good thing ...

Almost chipstyle. The lilting opening motif - about the first 4 seconds of the track - is a nigh-perfect Arabian intro. Suspect it's the start of a traditional tune from somewhere. The rest is still good, and carries the spirit of Arabia that zalza intended, but pales in comparison. This is a modern Arabian girl, dancing to disco :-)

*Sigh* This is a textbook example of what often goes wrong with tracker tunes. Pick a a few seconds of music from anywhere in the song, and it sounds fine. Samples, composition and technical skill are all of ... acceptable quality. Listen to the whole lot and its just a chain of stuff strung together. No discernible beginning, middle or end. Sometimes it's quieter, sometime louder, higher-pitched or lower, faster or slower. But there is no melody, and no sense that the composer has put any planning into it at all. As long as each sequence joins smoothly to the previous and the next, that was good enough. Music for ADD sufferers. 2-3

Y es, how to make FastTracker jump through hoops, by Elwood. Excellent technically, and a tune, something many other composers seem to overlook. On the other hand, if I grade it 10, how do I rate his later stuff? So, 8-9 then.

Starts harp-style, then develops into a sort of spacey (e.g. sci-fi) track. Not sure about 'Eternity'. 'Alien River' or something might have been a more fitting name. Classified as Fantasy because there isn't a sci-fi category. 6-7

An above-average ballad. Uses some sort of ululating sample in the middle and at the end for the Wendigo voices, but they're not anywhere near weird enough in my view. Make them a bit more electronic and they'd make fine samples for War of the Worlds-style Martians, however.

This is one of the better ones in my latest download batch. For one thing the title relates to the track. :-) Medium/slow melancholy piece, quite nicely done. Samples (all generated by the artist) sound fine to me.

Seems to be a ripped demo soundtrack, and it's a 14 minute mixed bag. It's OK, I guess. Decent range of effects, variety of song styles with a similar (relatively mellow) theme. Quite good for a 4-track piece. But it's less effective without the demo lightshow to go with it.

Small modstyler/chip piece. Much better than I expected given the small filesize. But really, given a choice between listening to a tune done in 7 minutes, and a good tune that took some actual effort on the part of a 'composer', I'd prefer the latter thank you.

Rather bouncy back rhythm with a very bog-standard tracker tune on the top. A good variety of effects used - dd seems to know how to get his tracker to do that sort of stuff, but still not a very good tune. Lots of tracker cliches in this one. 2-3.

Long ambient track with a slowly-building Indian atmosphere to it. Like drifting over Bombay in a hot-air balloon, starting in empty countryside and passing over the temples and city centre at around 6min, before drifting up into the sky again. Starts out very slow-paced. Liked the vocal samples at around 3m30 and 8m. Technically good, although the voice samples could perhaps have a bit more definition. And I don't believe it ever uses all 32 channels at once somehow.

One sample?? Doing this with one sample is very technically impressive. It's a happy, rather chippy tune. Clever. I'd like to hear it redone with that rather brutal restriction removed - there's a sweet little song trapped in here.

Voice samples are a bit too compressed - it's hard to make out all the lyrics. But it's an unusual song in even having lyrics in the first place. 8 or 9 for technical skill, much lower for artistic merit. A very good track to study if you want to pick up some tracking tips, less good for actually listening to. For listening alone, I'd rate it 3 or 4.

This sounds like a chip version of a sad old traditional tune - one that I can't quite recognise or place. Gets a bit modern at around the 1m-1m20 mark, then switches back to traditional again. (Ah, much better.) Rather an unusual piece.

Starts off sounding like techno jungle drums. Then gradually adds extra tricks, without actually getting anywhere, then fades out. Nothing wrong with it technically, but it's disappointing. It sounds like a 4-minute introduction - you start to wonder when the main tune is going to come in. And it never does.

Sounds like the music track from a slightly wacky mid-80s game. Dunno about David Bowie, maybe more a mix of Austin Powers and Duran Duran. While listening, I started to think it was getting a bit repetitive, though, but then the music stopped and started again in a different pattern. Overall, a bit cheesy, but amusing.

Beyond imagination is a sort of weird pulsating track with a very slow drum in the background. This track is trying to be spooky or ethereal, but the pacing and balance are wrong. It just sounds like an experimental new age piece, and not a very good one. Score 2-3.

The most-used sample on this piece sounds to me like a cross between a piano and a banjo. It's 'interesting' but doesn't bear repeated listening. Not very musically creative, poor balance on the samples; they almost all seem to be being played at 100%. Fixing that alone would improve the track markedly. Does have a slight ethnic Mexican tinge to it, which is something I think the maker was trying for. Overall, listenable, but only once or twice.

Slightly cartoony trance track, despite the name. I think the mind control involved is branding this tune across the subject's brains after 2-300 repetitions. That might work . . .
Personally, I like this unusual track more than the score I've given it indicates. But on overall merit, I think 4 or 5 is a fair mark.

Title: The long journey

A slightly unusual fantasy piece. It's not bad, but it would be the soundtrack for the long journey cross-country for a sci-fi/fantasy B- or C-movie, just before the scene/mood change when the baddies first appear. So if you're a fantasy RPG DM and you need some music to set the mood, this track will do quite well.

Slow, rather dull 4 track piece. Musically rather unadventurous. No tune to speak of. Better technically than musically. (Marginally.) Not bad for a piece by a novice, but I hope Skope/Saints went on to produce better. 2.5, rounded down to 2.
