Very short - just 25 seconds, but a very atmospheric loop that as the title "castle" implies, evokes images of a spooky castle. Would've been a great fit as exploration music in something like Wizardry or Might & Magic, maybe even a Castlevania kind of game.

Hilarious christmas music medley with over the top dance beats from the early 1990s. It's not particularly good, but it's pretty enjoyable as these x-mas medleys go. Pretty sure the author was well aware of how ridiculous this is.

Really nice early 90s style techno, reminiscent of early Aphex Twin/AFX. Simple melody, but interesting use of samples and rhythmic variations.

Enjoyable classic mid 90s demoparty house/trance, got all the hallmarks of the style - the house pianos, the shakuhachi sample, voice samples and trance arpeggios with nice filtered synth samples. You've heard it before, but it's perfect for when you're in the mood for some 90s demoscene nostalgia.

Really strong opening with great ambience and fitting drum samples, goes for a bit of a more run of the mill demoparty trance thing from there, but it stays pretty good throughout. A good 7/10, but had the atmosphere from the opening bars remained it had potential to be even better.

Stellar late 90s style slow IDM in the vein of µ-ziq, AFX, Squarepusher etc.
Great samples and drum programming.

Enjoyable tune in the late 80s/early 90s demo style. Good crisp (and loud) orchestra hit samples, good drum programming and a good variety of instrument sounds. Only complaint I could think of may be that the orchestra hits are bit loud compared to all the other instruments, but anyway, I really like it.

A good rendition of the FF3 (nowadays more widely known as Final Fantasy 6) theme song. Maybe not super exciting since it sticks very close to the original, with the only major difference being the lack of percussion and a more subtle bass sample. Very good string sounds. Good work, but nothing exceptional.

An early attempt at mod metal. Don't know how early since there's no date in the description, but the samples suggest 1989 to early 90s. The song includes vocals plus samples from the 1988-89 anime "Dominion Tank Police".
Anyway, I don't think it's a particularly good tune, but it's an interesting historical snapshot and made me look into the other output of Letal Metal. There's some interesting stuff in their catalog if you dig deeper.

Classic but short theme song from the Microïds game Nicky Boom . Beautiful orchestration and incredible atmosphere, but less than a minute long.

Atmospheric track with a good selection of instruments and samples. Great 90s chillout vibes. Enjoyable composition with a good amount of variation that all flows together well.
It does the classic 90s thing of the 909 drum roll though. At a time that thing got so common that tracker FAQs advised against using them.
Never minded them much, but it happens a little too frequently in this song, almost every four bars.
Still, doesn't really detract from the song as that conceit is fairly rare these days and kinda just adds to the nostalgic 90s vibes, though it admittedly starts getting a little funny when you realize just how often it happens in the song.
Anyway, I really enjoyed it, a solid 8/10 to me.

Decent early to mid 90s rave track with some trance and eurodance influences. It has a few different sections that are all decent if a little repetitive on their own but don't quite transition smoothly between each other, even though there's a gated trance style chorus/pad connecting each of them. Love the all too short ambient section that appears a couple of times throughout the track. Above average track but not quite reaching the upper echelon.

A bit of an uneven mix of early 90s stadium house, breakbeats/rave and some hiphop segments. When it is at its best it evokes stuff like KLF, Messiah, Bomb the Bass and The Prodigy (it even has a drum loop sampled from Out of space), but can't keep it up for the entirety of its 7 and a half minute runtime.

An enjoyable but I suppose somewhat unremarkable mid 90s breakbeat mod. Goes well along with other tracks in the style when you're in the mood, contains a few subtracks with a good variety. The third track is probably the best of the bunch with the classic orchestra hit and an acid bassline. It does nothing you haven't heard before, but it's done well.

Very short and simple, but oozing with atmosphere. Can easily listen to this loop for minutes, but sure wouldn't have minded a little more variation. Certainly would've been a great fit for a cyberpunky video game.

Good beats, melodies and samples. Maybe would've been better suited for a format that supported filter effects, as some of the looped synthesizer parts could've been more interesting with some variety to their timbre.

For the most part, this is an enjoyable little Amiga tune with the classic ST-XX samples that you'd hear in most tunes from the late 80s. I like the lead melody, but parts of the song, especially the piano solo part in the middle, are very off-key.

If you look up the url in the song info on Web Archive you'll see that this song was intended to be used in a game, so it's possible the calmer part was intended to be played at a different point. My guess is that the first section is the battle music for an area, and the second half is the exploration or dialogue music. As far as I can tell, the development of the game fizzled out in 2004, and never reached a near finished state. Can't find much on who was involved with the project though, all search terms I can find just lead to more dead ends on long dead forums now overrun with spam.

The changes in Drift 1.1 that came shortly after this compo version are for the better, but this version is still one of my all time favorites. Really enjoy the build up and the bassline. The 1.1 version has way more varied drums though. It's great that both versions are on here so you can hear how it evolved.
