This is a classic mod for me. It's not exactly a great song, with an uninspired and repetitious baseline (the middle 8 is very welcome), and a fairly sparse sound, but it's definitely funky and fun. It has numerous fun voice samples from movies and pop music, and back when I first heard this song, desktop computer music with human voices was rare. As an early exposure to mods on PCs, this was a stunning new experience for me.

This song is musically brilliant. It's like a collision between 80s synth pop and classical (Bach comes to mind). It has a complex poly-melody/polyrhythm made up of multiple staccato lines running concurrently that compliment each other wonderfully. The interwoven melodies dance back and forth between the left and right channels making excellent use of the hard-panned L/R sound-stage. As a result, the song feels fairly balanced, which is rarely accomplished with this old 4-channel Amiga soundtracker module format.

One of the best old 4-channel mods of all time. High-energy synth-rock. Great sounds and excellent use of the R/L stereo stage (which tends not to be an easy task with hard left and hard right as the only options back with the 4-channel Amiga mod scene). I'd love to know who created this song.

Punk rock meets synth. This cool song was one of the first mods I heard that had both a rock sound and some unique samples (as in, not the ST-01 set). The percussion sounds like it lives in the same space, rather than being random samples. The voice samples might not originate here but certainly fit well enough.

A decent effort. Some parts are more interesting to me than others, like the tinkly stereo bell intro. After that, it feels more like a classic SoundTracker sound set module. Also, "st-02:hihat6" was blank, but being triggered. I grabbed it from another module from this site (thanks for the ability to search instrument texts), and didn't need to adjust notes/pitches, so I assume it's the correct sample. But yet again with these missing samples in Walkman's modules, "st-02:hihat6" seems to be absent from the ST-02 archive on Aminet. Is this a problem at Aminet, or were people just adding samples to their ST-02 diskettes back in the day?

This is a very well made piece of music. It reminds me somewhat of Walkman's "klisje paa klisje". I'm not sure which song came first. It's not as complex or intense, but it has the same kind of structural and sonic vibe, in a more loungey sort of way.

This is a cute song, that almost feels swingy. There's a missing snare sound (the sample is blank, but you can see it being triggered anyway). "st-91: snare32", which does not exist in the ST-91 set found on Aminet.

This is a cheery and upbeat synth-pop song that's fun to listen to, if you like the old SoundTracker sound set (and luckily I do, but maybe that's more to do with nostalgia than anything else, ha ha). I only just learned that this is by Walkman, here on this very site. I've had this mod in my collection for decades(!).

This is a very cool, and fairly eerie industrialish tune. One of my favorites. It stands out from the crowd of 4-channel modules because of its subtle sounds and mood.

This is a great piece of ambient music. Very subtle and not at all like your average module. This module was taken from the Amiga game "Awesome", published by Psygnosis, with music credited to Timothy Brian Wright, Lee Wright (see https://www.lemonamiga.com/games/details.php?id=1255 ) There are several duplicates on MODArchive (for many modules). The original module title or file name is "mod.g1a". One of the duplicates on this site credits it to Dr. Awesome. Yes, I know it's on his "Decade" collection, but he himself says "I can't remember anything about this module..." in the song info document.

Ah, the old Depeche Mode song "Ice Machine". It's a good song, structurally, but this conversion is a little lackluster due to some of the sounds. Weirdly, when I first acquired this module, all the sample data had been shifted forward, resulting in a corrupted play where the beginnings of samples were tacked onto the ends of prior samples. I have no idea what causes this (one of my Star Control 2 modules ended up like this and I don't remember it being that way originally). I ended up finding all the original Soundtracker sounds to fix the module, except for the one being used for the lead, which I replaced with Living Calliope. I'm not sure if the version here is the original or if it's another modification like what I did.

This is a classic module to me. It was in my first collection of mods when I started collecting them from dialup BBSs, shareware catalogs, and computer shows. I discovered trackers late, as I wasn’t an Amiga owner. When the (fairly flawed) Trakblaster player arrived on PCs, this module was probably in the package. Therefore, I’m biased toward it for nostalgia’s sake. But nostalgia isn’t the only reason I like it. After its otherworldly and genre-defying intro, it has a very intense and aggressive sound that, like many early modules, sounds more like experimental synth soundtracks, rather than dance music. In fact, it could even be from a game, as it seems designed to be played in a continuous loop. I’m only recently exploring Amiga gaming, and can’t play most older games due to incompatibility with Amiga 1200 and me using a C64 video monitor for output, so there’s little chance I’ll accidentally stumble on the game it belongs to, if that’s the case. This module is from a mod golden era to me. It doesn’t go down the dance music path, and is not trying to be chip-music, the sounds of which can get on my nerves and, I feel, end up making so much music sound too much alike (despite different authors; strong adherence to genre is a negative IMO). There’s no “screaming cat” lead! Yay! Musically, it fits in with the likes of “Crystal Hammer” and “Demon’s Revenge”. It’s structurally complex. Nightfall is also able to combine spooky and energetic. Nice trick. If I did a remix, I might change a few sounds but, I’d leave the intro sounds and structure intact.

Another "classic" MOD for me. This was probably in my collection of Trakblaster files (a fairly inaccurate player, but with nifty oscilloscopes, which was my first exposure to Amiga MOD files). Is this a cover of some 80s pop song?

One of my favorites from back when I was first discovering Amiga music as a teen. Like many mods, this one is from a game (“Awesome”). The melody comes to mind semi-regularly even after decades. I’ve always felt this mod stood out from the pack by way of being quiet, subtle, and vaguely unsettling. It’s discordant, moody, haunting, & minimal. Tracker music rarely goes this way, and that makes it fairly unique, IMO. Sadly, that seems to earn it negative reviews. Shame.

This is, for me, a classic, with interesting & eerie sounds that fit the title, with an eerie note progression, as well as a spacey & hypnotic monotony that also works for the theme. The best part is the bright chorus, IMO. The low part is the stutter before the choruses, also IMO. This mod was my first exposure to the Led Zeppelin “When the levee breaks” drum loop, used in many songs and soundtracks (eg: Farscape “Thrown for a loss”, IIRC). I’d love to know where the [non-drum] instrument samples came from. I liked them so much I used them all in one of my own mods years ago (“Hall of faces”). I once found myself in contact with the author online, whose name doesn’t seem to be listed here, and I cannot recall now, unfortunately. I can’t recall if this mod was made for a loader or demo. Anyone know more?
