Hey all. I'm cTrix and have been obsessed with Amiga tracking for over 15 years now. Why? Because it's the perfect combination of limitation: 4 channels, bugger-all memory and simple commands. Everything is in one clean interface. The Amiga is rough and crunchy and doesn't try to pretend it's a warm & polite analogue instrument... it just rips :-)

My MOD collection is the only music I've managed to preserve... my other tunes from 90's relied on a particular MIDI setups, software / hardware combinations which are long gone. Meanwhile, todays software crashes and bugs out quite a bit so I'm back to the Amiga once again after a break between 1995 - 2005.

I also play gigs using 2 Amiga's fed though a DJ mixer... parties like Evoke (Germany), Syntax (Australia), plus dance parties, techno events, radio live-to-airs, etc. I try to keep honest with my tunes... some are just challenges to overcome technical limitation, the older ones often inspired from "new" samples I had leached at the time, some of the newer releases are for demoparty competitions and many are just plain party fun.

It's going to take a while to upload all the tunes and get them off the Amiga in some cases (for old tunes). Not all tunes are here as many early tunes were unfinished or sound... uhhhhh... crap. Others are on standby for musicdisk releases - but I will try to upload as they are released. Cheers and thankyou for listening!!

ps. All my tunes are written for non-filtered MONO playback and sample interpolation off / filter off.

Hi!

Watched your YouTube video entitled "Amiga Samplers : Budget dance music in 1990", thank you so much for making that.

I'm eyeing up Sundown esp seeing they take Gameboy tunes for the chip compo :-) Have a ton of new material I wrote on the plane. May just have to track something up for the tracking compo too ;-)

Well, I don't really know when the high Fxx (with xx > 20) was introduced, but in theory it should work with any half-decent player, shouldn't it? :)

Thanks for the great gig at Evoke, I enjoyed it very much :)

Saga Musix: I think the later versions of Protracker allowed a tempo that was something other than 6 screen refreshes (eg. F06) or 5 (F05), etc. I just never got it working in the early days. I'll have to look into it. I still want my tunes to be back compatible with all MOD players if possible.

Re: Well, you have Fxx for tempo at least, don't you? :) I'm not sure if finetune would be enough for the samples to get this slow, though.

Saga Musix: Yeah - it was the second track I dropped when I played at Evoke :-D I wish I could slow it down by 5% but hey, you only get limited speeds on the Amiga! Still wondering if I can underclock something in an Amiga to get slightly slower tempos...

Re: Cool, a CD... :) I'm listening to tHE pHAT cONTROLLa atm, sounds very familiar! :)
