Indefinite Radiant by Arcturus a Shattered Fixtures Release Time: 3:42 Well, another song by me, and this one I pumped out in a relatively short amount of time. I finished about two weeks after I started, when normally I spend a month or more without finishing a song! How odd. I've been tracking with a fury recently. I guess it may be because I don't know if I'll be able to track much in college, so I'd like to get as much done here as possible. Anywho, enjoy the song. -Arcturus Contact Info My homepage: http://members.tripod.com/~arcmeister My e-mail: arcmeister_pemail.net The Shattered Fixtures homepage: http://www.aspects.net/~sf/index2.html

I did not know it at the time, but this was my final song for Shattered Fixtures, and my final song to be released on the Hornet Archive. It was also my final song from 1998: I left for college at the end of the summer and did not have reliable access to a computer that I could run Impulse Tracker on until early 1999. So, it was about six months before my next song would come out. This also resulted in my resignation as a judge for Music Contest 6 - since the second round of judging didn’t start until after I had left for college, I had no ability to judge in the second round.
I recently began to appreciate this song more than I have in the past. If you had asked me in 1999 what my best song was, I probably would have answered Solitude or Gravity or Pray For Rain. But after re-listening to this song a few times, I began to like this song more and more, and would probably put this in contention for one of my best songs. I would probably call this song my second-best song for Shattered Fixtures, after Solitude. I’m not yet sure where I would rank it after factoring in my post-SF mods.
The song is based on a very simple hook on a short sine-like sample. The hook repeats at various points throughout the song, which at least one Shattered Fixtures member found slightly annoying (it doesn’t bother me). The rest of the tune is built around the organs and guitar.
Probably the biggest flaw in this song is that the guitar (both electric and bass) have sample sets that don’t match up to each other particularly well. But overall I like how this song flows, stays interesting, and has a satisfying finale.
The title of the song is mostly meaningless, but I think I gave it the name because the hook is based on a “sine” sample (it’s not actually a sine, but close enough) which made me think of trigonometry, hence “Indefinite Radiant.”
