artist This was one of my better songs from my early era of tracking. Even though it was only my fifth song, it was superior to many of the other songs that followed, and probably better than at least half of my first thirty or so.

That doesn't make it good, of course. But it at least was better than my average early song. I think what made it an improvement over the others was it was my first truly coherent song: I had a melody, a bassline, and a plan for what I wanted to accomplish. The melody was a simple 5-note sequence on a brass sample. It was a bit odd-sounding, but I figured I could make it work. I then put together a bassline and constructed the song from there.

I don't recall getting the samples from a specific song, so I think at this point I had figured out how to extract samples piecemeal. The "let the bass quick" vocal was from a song by Subliminal, but I don't remember the name of it. Incidentally, I thought it was funny to have a vocal saying "bass" to be played at a super high frequency. In retrospect, I probably should have left that out. The guitar sample I would eventually re-use in a lot of my other early songs, it was my guitar sample of choice for a while.

My goal with this was to transition from one style to another: from techno, to rock, to orchestral. I think the first two were okay, but the orchestral part was the weakest.

Like most of my early songs, I wrote this sometime in May or June of 1996.

About the title: In my chemistry class, our teacher (Mr. Kistler) liked to teach us new vocabulary words. "Segue" was one of them, and as I wrote this song about transitioning from one style to another, I decided that was an appropriate title to use. - arcturus

I like this song...It is
pretty cool!!! Enjoy.

Here are how the tran-
sitions go:

Techno
  |
Industrial
  |
Alternative
  |
Classical
  |
Big finish!

You may not even notice
some of those transitions
so keep your ears peeled.

Thanx to:

Mr. Kistler, for teaching
my class what segue means
among many other words,
such as acerbic and deni-
grate. We're learning
vocabulary in Chemistry!
:^)

Everybody who wrote the
instruments. I owe you
guys and/or girls!
