Dark. I like the use of those SID-ish samples in the deep bass. The mood sounds almost epic at some points; I like it. Great variation. Some sounds are a bit iffy for me, but it's still very cool.

In the good old days, the C64 machine was the greatest game console on the planet, its tunes were usually smaller than 8k and in order to make up for this apparent low 4-bit quality, the tunes were made increadibly addictive. And that is exactly what these tunes are, addictive. This person has gone out of his way to make new 16bit versions of the original tunes, although some of the 16bit intruments are still very chip influenced. This is the only down side of the song, the annoying intruments used (they aren't all chip instruments though). The songs of course, are renditions of originals which were made by professionals, and its put together very well. (Also note, that it goes for over seven minutes so its not too short). What can I say, its put together almost like the originals, and it sounds fairly good. The amount of channels used aren't exactly a perfect copy of the original tunes (which were 3 channels, sometimes four) and its a shame he didn't use real intruments instead of 16bit chip intruments. The entire song soundds a bit too synthetic for my liking, but the good old tunes are still in there, and they are well worth listening to. Especially reccomended for C64 lovers.

  *** C64 LOVE ***

 Composed dec. 1997
by Roger Lindfors (C)

This tune is inspired
by some tunes I heard
on the commodore 64.
These tunes are from
Gyroscope, Nemesis
the warlock (Rob
Hubbard) and Knight
Games. The rest is
from my own mind.
NOTE: I don't make any
money on others work.
