How can I resist a cool alternate spelling of the word "calling?" This song nearly put me to sleep. It's a fairly mellow trance tune that has an okay sound about it, but never goes anywhere. It was just plain uninteresting. The big reason for this was because of the generic techno theme that plays throughout the song, never bothering to change or go to new, interesting places. I probably could add a bass guitar that only plays a D-5 throughout the whole song and it would sound in place. It didn't make my ears bleed, but this song sure bored me. The cymbal loop probably wasn't necessary - that could easily have been tracked out with individual samples. I also have a quibble with sample 1: the sample features a ping-pong loop, but in the song's introduction, the loop hits before a new note plays. This sounds very awkward. The panning on sample 11 hurt my ears, don't see what the point of it was. I did like the panning on the female choir sample, that seemed appropriate. The methods used to write this song seem too conservative - like the author is afraid to take the song in a different direction.
