Title: Guitar Jammed (8-Bit)
Filename: aw_gjmd8.it

There are some good sides in this tune, the guitar sounds like a mix between an irish or scottish instrument, but with the same melody going through out the whole song, not that it normally matters, but here it is a bit too loud. The ending is not very got either. Alright samples, with a good use of them.. kinda smooth!

ew! Not much structure in this tune, just alot of dark ideas put toghether around a rather dull guitar-riff. The riff is followed by, what sound like a mad man smashing his hands down in some drums, while recording them through a $1 mic. Not something to consider listening to more than once. The riffs ARE kinda good-quality. Sorry but go figure you own thoughts on this one!

The same pretty much thoughout the song, but there is something trancy about it that makes it worth listening to. The song reminds me of something from the start 90'es with some trance-acid backgrounds, but the bass is definatly retro. The melody is a bit confused, and not much more than a single piano, at least that's what you can hear, it is in my opinion a bit too loud. The song is too long if you ask me, at least it is too much the same, but you can live with it, due to the great arrangement. Brilliant handling of the samples/instruments, and a nice arrangement with great underlyinge effects, like fast sweeps and tiny 'hammers' to build of the melody. This guy really knows how to work a tune.

A very nice relaxed piano that lift's your state of mind, followed up by a great bassline! Later on there comes a little intermezzo with some GREAT low-level-acid-bass and a panflute, and from that ponit on the song really goes into a trance sequence! The song tends to be quite long, but all in all I think the artist has made something to be proud of. NOTE: in the start there is an instrument not turned off?! it's sounds a bit annoying but disappears after some time.. I don't know if it's supposed to be there, so I will not deduct that from my whole impression of this song. very good effects used, on the hi-quality samples, what I would call an excellent use of stereo!

Title: A-Dawgs Norwegian Rap

"GrandMother Bash"'s beat lays a solid ground beneath a funky bass and a hallbrass, that together makes the melody, while "A-Dawg" raps his funky lyrics in norwegean, and fortunately I understand the language, which probably adds pretty much to the song, since it's not much without understanding the lyrics. The rap itself is as raps are: homage to yourself and your crew.. the lyrics are about Aslak (probably "A-Dawg") who has a girlfriend in Copenhagen (1 nightstand) and how cool he is, disses faith in Gods, and lays off the drugs to drink his beer.. In my opinion a CULT-hit, the rap lays smooth on the beat with only a few glitches, but that's part of the cult-thang.. and the spoken words are cool, and the song is definately worth listening to a couple of times, with only 2:10 (looped) in lenght! Not much here.. lo-fi samples.. but great in this song!

Good start! Some of the best dance, I've heard! A good melody, that is supported by a very good beat, and nice little effects, making it sound very pro. Sort of mellow-dance, that leaves you with the _slightly_ repeative melody in your head, and makes you wanna hit "PLAY" again. Good work! Some of the best technical rating I've had to give. Good everything, I can't find a single glitch!

10:37! Too much echo (left/right)! But a long the tune some interesting sounds begin do develop, but 10 min is way too long!! I'm probably the only persons who has listened to the whole song.. It's quite repeative, and really doesn't develop much.. and that pulls this song way down! The MOD/left/right idea is not my style, but it truely sounds like the real thing, though slightly annoying with the high hat.

Good funky beat supportes the funky guitar and strings, and leads you to the groove of an old end-sequence of an Amiga/Nintendo game, not that this is a bad thing, just the samples are like that. The ending is not very stylish and at peace with the rest of the tune, but it's worth a listen. This guy knows how to work his way around the music, and really gets the best out of the poor samples.

If you know Koala's Australia, you should recognize this song, which is a trax-mix of the song. A good mix? Not for me.. the slightly annoying 'beep'.sound haunts you through the song, and destroys the rest of the song.. too bad, cuz there are some good effect that makes the song worth listening to. Good bassline, with interesting effects, but in the end all that becomes a little repeative.

A trancy sound leads you through the dance build-up beat, and is suddenly released by an acidsounding bass, that takes over the beat and starts to rock up the trance sound again. A good relaxing tune with dreamy aspects, that makes it quite modern. The bassline is a little too strong, and the breakbeat is stereo-left-aligned, which makes it a little disturbing.

A fast tune, that mixes some electronic aspects with some very funny voice-samples, making it sound goofy, but good. Nice hardcore style around the wole tune, making it mysterious, but repetive... A good tune but nothing more, there are no new thinking aspects, but worth a listen. Nothing special.. The breakbeat is looped, as always and there are some acid sounding samples, and the great voice-samples are a plus.

Nice little, happy tune from 1991, which makes the quality limited, but the idea is good, and followed up by many good themes, and little compositions to variate the main streem of music. The beat is stuck in the 80's though, but it doesn't matter, cuz the beat is not what is important in this song. The endning is not very good though. Not fantastic samples, but good and harmonic, no scracthes but a little low quality. It worked in 1991..

The good old tune in a chip kinda version, nothing special! The beat goes march in some parts, and it doesn't fit. Good thing it isn't that long. Hmmm... nothing to brag about.. typical small instruments, nice if you consider the size.

A good tune, that leads you in the, what I would call, typical Finlandian way of tracking, with the typical production of Glide and Vibration. Not saying this song is not original, it's just the things you notice. There is a good melody that twists several times, as you get longer into the song, and making it very variated and stylish. It works, and is a good tune which is definatly worth listening to a couple of hundred times. As I mentioned, the Gliding and Vibration is very good indeed, and there are some good details, like little changes in the beat, and melody-shifting.

Remix of Alanis Morrisettes - Hand In My Pocket, and a good one. The beat and percussions are very smooth and new thinking, and leads you through the song. The song it self, is not much to hurray about, since it's a remix, but it's done well, especially if the artist has listen to the real song, and made this from his memory. Nice piece of work, though kinda soft and mellow versioned. Not much in the samples, they are what you could expect for a rock song, but the beat is a little special, which gives this song a lift up, along with the guitar and the stringpiano.

This is definately one of the better songs. With a slightly barque sounding piano, leading the melody on top of a clean piano and very nice strings. Really something worth listening to. It could indeed be a missing peice from the early days of Beethoven or Mozart. The ending is NOT very good though, very unfortunate! A few scratches, that can get a little messy, but no big deal! The strings really help in creating the right atmosphere for this song, like the piano riding along the barque hapsichord.

I guess the melody is alright, but my ears are exploding due to the lousy sample, that runs the melody. There is not much more to say, it's strictly without beats or percussions, kinda have it's charme, but... 16 bit samples sounding this awful should be degraded to 2 bit samples. This really twists the song in the negative direction, not even the creative twists on the samples, fadeout and glide, can make up for that.

This is just like any old typical cover you would hear in the old MOD-format, like What is love. But I have to hand it out to the sample quality, which makes up with the size. There isn't really any composers freedom, he just let's the sample do their work, without really interfering. It' very annoying that the voice sample "In my mind" keeps looping and looping at first. Beautiful samples, they even work on my 8 bit soundcard (tested it) without a single scratch. The samples really gets this song going, nice work!

I've been thinking about this songs, cuz it's caught by time. It's a great .MOD (it's from '95) and at that time, I probably would have rated it higher. It reminds me of my C64, and the good old days, but I had my C64 in 1995, same year as this MOD was made, and frankly I think it's too old, listening to some computermusic from the old days, is fun.. at least for a while. Gliding the instruments, sounds good but oldfashion. The beat is not good for our time, I'm afraid the whole impression of this song, can't be much higher.

Very monotome melody, clashed on the comprehensive beat, with some annoying sounds, sounds a little like acid. And what a sudden ending ? Not one of my favorits. But then again, we all evolve! The strings are good, and so are the piano, but the beat is too low in my opinion, and the acid-strings sounds like something recorded from a microphone, with scratches.

Very nice strings indead, really what you combine with a movie where something amazing happens i space, and the excellent acid-strings in the background making it mystirious and bassy. The beat developes, from a slow beat to a fast technobeat. This song can really get your mind floating! Oh no, there is a click in one of the samples, that repeats it self while looping the beat, this is really bad, because it messes up a very good song, but you can live with it, so I won't let it influence too much.

When you dig in this song, you can understand the title. Using "clanks" and bell-sounds, leads your mind to a little dwarf standing in his icecastle, gently hitting ice with his big boomblaster backing him up on the fast drums. Or he might take a drive in his badass snow-sleigh! Nice, I have to admit, the fast melody suits this song, and I like the icy-sounds, good job, though the drums are rather easy done, with whole drum-samples... that's a shame.

Rare to hear hardcore, combined this slow and stylish. The voicesample saying "acadaca ma rackabaaa" is my favorite. It's really kinda of a funny song, due to the destructive drum, pounding throughout the song. Suddenly the style changes to what I'd call something in the Norman Cook department, after he had gone hardcore, not unlike songs you can find on the ThunderDome Cd's. The samples are of various quality, but that only helps in making the song rough and hardcore, so in my opinion it has to be that way. I'd like to bring this song too school, and blow out my teacher's horrible music taste, with some slow hardcore.

The beat is nice and flowing, leading you into a funky/jungle mood, and with the melody, which really can hold to be repeated the more than 9 minutes this song lasts is actually kinda up-cheering and happy. There is much variation, escpecially in the beat. You get the feeling he's playing around with this song, twisting it, are laying all effects on, twisting it.. and so on, and it works! The beat is really what makes this song a little different, at least for me. The happy bell I like, and the only really bad sample is the Choir-sample.

In my opinion this melody is boring, with the exeption of something slick near the end. Even though there are variation in the song, the annoying flute that runs the melody, haunts you through the over 5 minutes long song. It could be the flute sample, and may I add that all the samples are "st"! Though I don't like it that much, you have to make up your own opinion, cause I think there has gone alot of effort into making this. I don't like "st"-samples, though these are better than the ones I've heard before, and the way this artist twists them is nice and smooth, kinda like the Finlandia-style, if I dare to use that word.

The strings are of a high quality and leads you through this piece on a wave on ambient softness. Unfortunately, the melody is very advanced and you really can't hear it starts over again, which makes this composition very messy, and unstructured. It's a shame, because this artist really have some of the right stuff in this song, like the percussions which are harmonized with the strings. I have not heard one scratch on the samples/instruments, which helps the mellow softness created from the start, I like that, too bad the melody is so messy.

I like this melody, it's short, actually kinda cozy and fun, and best of all; it doesn't go through the whole song (2:22) so it's not boring. You definately wanna listen to this song over and over again to enjoy the wide spectrum of fine music art, from the nice melody to the sofisticated beat with the complementary hihat and claps in a good quality making it add up to a higher unit. Very nice beat, slightly changing as the song moves on, and the whole music is broken by to good samples, one a warewolf howling, and the other taken from U96 - Das Bot (1-2-3 Techno). The samples are above average and I like the 16 bit clap, it really sounds professional.

The start is good, signaling that something really good is coming up, with slides in a very low voice, and a funky bass. The first drums are good, but they are very advanced and in a high volume, which tend to be anoying after sometime, but I like that they are advanced and not the same throughout the whole song. The melody is very simple, and gets annoying after the first few patterns. The bass-sample is not very clean, and the drums are jungledrum loops, which makes it fairly easy to use, and limits the artist in using his creativity. The voice samples are good though, they help alot making this something you could listen to a few times.
