as far as the trance goes, this song's coming very near to perfection. all of the classical trance/ambient effects used here (beaty percussion with hihats and splash snares, bright piano and such) are getting near to the top. of course, it *could* have some 'harder' melodic line (i mean, the melodic line besides the basses and the slightly used piano chords), which is imo a must-have for 10.0 song, but even without it, it's still a kewl piece that everybody'd benefit from listening to. i couldn't find anything spoiled here - the samples are hi-fi, song lenght is 5:30 while the uncompressed song size is about half a MB, the drum arrangations, song's tempo, echo and panning are just marvellous. this one's top of the top for me. one of the entries in Complete MOD Compo, going past the usual high level of sound arrangations done by Off Limits, fast and clean. only thing angering me was the genre - yes, i like electonic music, but i feel that when i'll listen to one more techno/ambient/trance/space song i'm going to rip the heart out of my chest with my bare hands. well, all of the effects used in space techno's are hit here: multichanneling and panning used for echo, light synth pads for the ambience and secondary beat, acioustic hihats and splash snares, bright piano for main tune. the size and number of samples overwhelms me, but managing them was makers' problem, not mine. =) [+- this review is a part of Review Santa Claus project -+]

the melody of the song's quite good, but it is goooooing soooo sloooowly, that after playing it one or two times it gets boring. and, because the original song (this one seems to be some kind of a remake) was already about 2min long, i just can't get what CPIasminc actually done. in any case, the main melodic line have got few very good parts with nice harmonic effect, so the entire tune gets an overall 6. i don't know why the bells samples are this big (1MB for 3 tones), and why there's no beat except some 'DOng' sounds - so i decided to make up this tune alittle. my remix will arrive on TMA shortly, and i'm feeling imho the song is somewhat better when done in *my* way. =) anyway, i'm open for comments. =) [+- this review is a part of Review Santa Claus project =) -+]

dammit... if i only do reviews for artists such as Deimos, people may think that i'm not giving any song a rating of 7 and below. well, nevertheless, i've liked every Deimos' song, so imo the scores are reasonable. about the very song: a good piece made with much skill, fitting my favouritte ambient/piano/percussion scheme, sadly, there's not much to listen, because of synths and drums concealing the piano line. and the whole song is somewhat monotoneous. that's why 7.5 in comparision with Rays of Sun, the samples here are collected quite carefully, so the sound effect is way better. their quality's ok, and the overall size of the song is good too. sadly, it's only 2:29 long, so it could be somewhat longer. the main beat lacks some fast hihats imho... oh well, the tune is very nice despite that. maybe it's strange, but for the gods sake, i can't help myself and not like a song like this. the pianoline hit exactly my mood at the moment of listening. there's something ingenious in the simplicity of this song - i can promise not to delete it for my entire life. the only thing it lacked for me is a voice of my girlfriend singing the lyric... ok, i agree - the quality of the melodic (piano, guitar) samples is LOW, but at the same time the way in which the drums was aranged is astonishing me every time i listen to this song. so maybe it's true that beethoven played on an old cranky fiddle is still a beethoven after all... another nice tune from the Off Limits duo. very slow and moody, filled with silent overdrive guitar and an echoing piano sounds. well, maybe it *is* somewhat hard to go through the whole lenght of it (which is strange when the song is only 3 minutes long =/) - the tempo is way too low for making it easy to listen for me, but at the same time the tones are very harmonic and calm, so after all it could be a good one for filling the silence of a long winter night. =J technically this song is getting somewhere near the 10 - the panning is awesome, and the samples are fitting this song perfectly, whilst their quality is very high. i haven't bothered myself to examine the tracks one by one - the final effect is imho way more important. the song could be longer or faster, though it is only mho. =) [+- this review is a part of Review Santa Claus project =) -+]

a good case of breaking the genre rules - the author used many acoustic instuments (piano, basses and percussion), while the use of pure synths is mariginal. in the result, it's getting far from mainstream techno and near the easy-listening branch. you could give it a 10 if you don't mind the piano repetitions, but at the same time only a 7 if you're a hardcore techno maniac... so take your choice. =P the main beat is just the way it should be - brushy, fast and technical... well, as there are some unused samples i cannot say everything's ok. besides, the piano tune is very good but after hearing it tenth time i wanted to kill myself. =) despite that, this one is an interesting and quite varied song (as far as concerning techno music) =). a good piece of a talented craftsman with much experience (as RhythmicMind is making music from the times of Atari). what i like in this song, is its sleekness and overall effect, but at the same time, it gives me the feeling of going 5 years back - i just couldn't find a good genre for this song, 'cause it's only fitting the 'computer' scheme, making the whole arangation unpropable to go away from it, as the whole song is similar to mods made in the years of non-PC music scene. some of the samples used are just giving me the creeps. =/ to sum up: very cool but somewhat archaic composition. not much to say here. RhythmicMind done a good job with this one, so despite of the size [yeah, i know that megabytes are currently becoming a standard =P] i couldn't find a single weak spot. anyway, cutting some samples and use of instrument controls probably wouldn't hurt RM much. =)

I'm somewhat confused with this one - it's quite calm and slow, though it features percussion and synths. I'd give it a 3 or 4 but i liked it - that's the only reason. IMO, it could be a way shorter and i also think the synths should be somewhat softer, but that's only my opinion. There is a whole bunch of 8bit samples - good quality, though i wasn't able to find how these samples sounded - most of them were simply not used in a way making it possible to hear them. I don't like the choice of samples, so to speak, but i think that the author was considering them good, so i won't argue with him...

Well, it's difficult to describe this 'masterpiece' - it lacks almost everything a good song need - a feeling, a rythm and the variation, though it's not so bad when compared to other DeepJ's songs =). IMHO he hadn't worked hard on his creations, so if he'd made some elementary minor changes his tunes would sound a *lot* better. I haven't seen him posting new songs lately so i doubt is he still around... if so, try to work on your music skills and then try to track, ok? Not much to mention here - a couple of 8/16 bit samples... only one of them that's good is the piano sound, but it was ripped anyway. OK, there's no need to use many sampz in a piano tune, but making a not so good song with only one good sample does not sound well for me =P What i must state here, that his song could hit a good 7 or 8 if it had been made in a proper way - i've done a remix of his song, cutting off the 'percussion', dropping off the piano 1 octave down, increased bpm and finally erased some bogus tunes and i suddenly realized that this song is not so bad - but, as the author realized, making piano tunes is way too easy - so i'm not going to forgive him this one song.
