Title: A Return 2 Reticence
Filename: returntoreticence.xm

I uploaded this one. I couldn't believe I couldn't find it here, but here it is for all to enjoy. This is one of my favourite mods ever. A Return to Reticence (composed by Dinugz) is mellow, gentle and quite beautiful to hear. It starts out with this acoustic guitar with a slight echo, then the keyboards and gentle bass start up in the background. Then in comes the piano. A slow drum beat is introduced. I would not change a single thing about this song! Pure genius. I find myself unable to describe this any better. Just give it a listen.

"Tell me who I am." "Bob." "Bob, I think, uh-" "Bob?" "Tell me who I am." "He was the key man for the entire operation."

Only 41 downloads as of the time I'm writing this. There may be a reason for this. This is a weird & repetitive song. It has some interesting voice samples, but they're repeated over & over. That said, if you don't mind repetitiveness, keep reading. (I actually normally hate repetitive songs, but I love this one, so go figure.)

Kimanbob = Key Man Bob. I think at least some of the samples are from the movie, "What About Bob?" What is it about this song? Why do I like it so much? Besides the voices, the music itself is pretty standard electronic fare. Kind of techno-ish ominously low notes repeated over & over. But this song gets stuck in my head for days sometimes. I have a feeling that many people will disagree with me about this song, but please listen to it (it would probably work to just preview it if you don't want to take the extra step in downloading), & provide a brief review if you can. I'm interested to see if anyone would like this like I do... or am I just going nuts?

"Please understand, a moron can't miss it!!!"

I very much concur with the review below. Glider in the Sky is a happy, upbeat tune. It actually makes me think of freedom & soaring unfettered through the sky. Jace Cavacini is the author here, though he's not credited on this page (at least not at the time of this writing). This is a very well-done & solid piece. I don't have very many MTMs, but this would be right near the top of my list (overshadowed (pun intended) only by Geometric Shadows, aka geomshad.mtm). My only complaint is wanting more. At two minutes, this song is just over too quick. And that's more a compliment than a criticism.

Okay, I just feel like I should correct some of the errors presented on this page. This is NOT a trance song as it says under "genre." Nor is this a 10 minute song. It's 5:17, actually, and yes every minute is worth it. The name of this MTM is Geometric Shadows, and it was composed by Ryan Cramer. This is an anthematic, mysterious, cosmic masterpiece. I second the "10" rating on this one. It reminds me of Babylon 5, and I basically worship that show. The samples sound excellent, and the atmosphere of this piece is truly magnificent. This is one of my all-time favorites. Well worth a listen!

There are two versions of this song on modarchive, asphyxd.mod and asphyxia.mod. I'll put this comment on both files. The guessed artist for asphyxd.mod is zyclone, though there are no "liner notes" in the samples section. This is a solid mid-tempo synth piece. It's pretty upbeat & happy-sounding. The only complaint I might have is that the snare sample sounds like it's cut off, if I'm explaining it right. There needs to be a slight reverb or something added to it to make it sound more like a real drumbeat. But hey, this was created in 1993, so take it for what it is: a catchy, happy, synth-pop mod. Worth a listen.

Only 36 downloads? Hopefully I can fix this somewhat, and introduce others to this interesting song. It's from 1994 and it's no Purple Motion, but definitely worth listening to. Lots of synth-work here, and a slow beat. This song sounds kind of mournful and melancholy. I find it's stuck in my head for hours aftewards. This song is simple, yes... but very effective. It deserves some listening & more downloads. Preview it first if you want. Just give it a try.

Hmmm, just over 2300 downloads (at the time of this writing) and no ratings/comments/reviews? Maybe that's because so many just view this as a classic that needs no introduction. If you haven't heard this one, then download this and journey back to the halcyon days of 1989. Allister Brimble created this mod to be included in the Amiga Format diskmag. (I still miss that magazine!) For it's time, this is very well done. Some may complain about sample quality or whatnot, but 1) Other than the occasional almost inaudible clicking sound, I don't hear anything that needs fixing here, and 2) it was 1989! Amiga Format sounds pretty outer-spacey & anthematic in a way. If you like old mods, then get this one!

Purple Motion is one of my favorites (and I know I have company in this!), and this song is one of my favorites by him. Very expressive and very beautiful! Like what was said below, it doesn't need to be longer than it's length of 2:19. It evokes in me a sense of beauty and sunshine, things coming to life in the springtime, etc. Download this one if you've never heard it! If you only know Purple Motion for his fast-paced, techno-ish tunes, you'll be pleasantly surprised here.

Sadly, not many people have downloaded this one. A shame, since it's an awesome tune, and a classic in my opinion. This is an older song, my guess is 1995. It starts out with some mellow pianos, followed by some synths, & then boom! The beat kicks in. This is a very upbeat and happy song. (It's described as "happy hardcore" in the sample section.) It has a lot of rhythm changes, which is a plus for me. I personally can't stand techno/house tunes that are repetitive. (The same thing over and over, okay now add some cymbals, repeat that over & over now...) This is very interesting to listen to, and I never get tired of hearing it. It's just solid. I highly recommend this song!

There aren't very many downloads of this mod, but then again there are two entries (which is why I'm copying & pasting this text into the other entry). Anyway... my GOD, I love this song! I had no idea that Heatbeat did this one, but I can believe it. Full Moon Rock is another great song by this artist, so check that one out as well. As for this one, it's got this definite hook to it that just draws you in. The keyboards and the beat just come together and I just go "yeah!" It's old-school (1991!) mod stuff at it's finest. I just want to to go off and start dancing or something when I hear this. Check it out, you just may like it.

Nice, spooky-sounding mod. Great for Halloween! There are some pretty cool samples of an owl, some kind of monster, wind, & maybe a few more. It's pretty simple, but I just like the sound of this.

I'm trying to rate & briefly comment on some of these overlooked older mods. The classics never die!

Here's an 8-channel mod from 1994. I have no idea who wrote this one (I wish I did!), but it sounds quite professional. Definitely worth listening to. It has this interesting mood to it. I wonder why the choice of the number 2012? I recently heard that the Mayan calendar ends at 2012, since they predict the world will end at this time. If so, at least all of you have 3 years to read this. Hehe...

This is an old mod song from 1992. It's just very fun techno with interesting & efficient voice samples. "Give me a shot of energy" is something that I've heard in other mods around the same time period. Great drums!

What we have here is a very catchy & interesting old mod tune (circa 1992). I guess it's called "Crapz," and crapzwtitle means "Crapz with title?" (Okay, I really don't know.) What do I like most above this one? Well, I can't describe it, so you'll have to take a listen. But the main theme is what I love: da da da...da da da... It just makes me want to move, dance, bang my head, something...!

There are two entries on modarchive for the same song, so I'm pasting the same review in both.
