Hi,
I have only started using nitrotracker and am a bit confused over the file formats that you can use for samples etc.
Is it possible to use MP3 or does it have to be WAV etc..
If not then am I going to have to convert all MP3 samples that I have into WAV?
Cheers for any help..

Hey, glad you discovered NitroTracker! Yes, your samples have to be wav (PCM, no compression). To convert them I suggest Audacity. An alternative for batch-converting lots of WAVs would be the command-line tool sox. Have fun!
Edit: Moved the topic to the support forum.

Cheers for the quick response!
Think im going to have a lot of fun with nitrotracker, been looking for something I can use on the move to produce tracks for a while.
I have Audacity, havent used it much yet though. Ideally I would like to convert around 170 mp3s to WAV format. Is the command-line tool that you mention in Audacity or something that I need to download.
Cheers!!! :-)

I recommend getting LameDropXPd from http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lamedrop.php
You just drag and drop mp3 files on it and it gives you wavs.

Legend..
Again like the last person thanks for the quick response..
Any idea of good sites I can upload samples onto. I have a load of samples I think others would like to get their hands on once I convert them to WAV..
Cheers

I added a point about sample conversion to the NitroTracker FAQ (http://modarchive.org/forums/index.php?topic=1388.msg5529), since this is asked frequently :-)
If you want to share your samples (great!), I would recommend freesound (http://www.freesound.org/), which is a nice source of samples too.

Just to make it clear, you have to have created the samples yourself to be able to upload to Freesound and make them available under a Creative Commons license.

Yeah they are my own samples..
Having another issue with nitrotracker.
I have put a load of samples into my R4 card. Previously when I went into Nitro I was able to load them up in the usual way (the samples were the sample packs off the nitrotracker website). However I put my own WAV format samples onto the card as well. But now when I go into songs/samples and load them I can go through the folders but when I get into them there are no files showing up.
When I come out of NItrotracker and start the game boy up ad go into multimedia I can access all of the samples and listen to them so they are on the card ok, just nitrotracker is not picking them up. Very confusing. Should I delete Nitroracker and start all over, or is there something I need to do to get the program to ick them up.
Cheers!!!! (again)

There is a "smp" and a "sng" button. make sure you use the "smp" button for samples. "Sng" is for saving xm modules.

Treid that but is just bringing up a blank area whn I choose sample.
I have 200 odd samples on it, is it because I am uploading so many that it might be taking ages?
Cheers

Took all samples off and put on the free samples from son of 8. Drums etc. Even with only these on I can only pick them up through song, but then nothing there after, obviously because they are samples etc. Still jus a blank area for samples when I load them up..
Bizarre! ???

Sorted, must be beacuse i renamed the folders the samples were in. Others seem to have had this problem.
Just reinstalled Nitrotracker and seems to have solved the problem..

I've filed this as a bug. It'll hopefully be fixed in the next release.
