Title: Leavening (or maybe The Leavening)
Filename: leaven.xm
Length: 2:20
Filesize: 237,940 bytes
Author: Skaven / Future Crew
I found an old spreadsheet file with a list of all my old modules (which is why all the detailed info!), but alas I do not have the file anymore :/
All the sites mentioned in the "Lost Mods" sticky do not have leaven.xm listed under Skaven nor Future Crew.
Perhaps this was an unfinished mod that got leaked back in the 90's.
Maybe I have the actual title wrong..
I don't remember anything about how the song goes, but I remember it being one I listened to over and over, so it must be worth finding again!!

I don't know this tune, nor can I find it on skaven's website, but you can contact him; his mail address can be found at the bottom of his website, http://www.futurecrew.org/skaven/

If you're certain about the file name, leaven.xm, then I very much doubt it's actually Skaven's work. Coming from Future Crew, he was naturally a Scream Tracker guy who later moved on to tracking .ITs. It could indeed be an unfinished module which would in turn explain why there could have been song credits left over from a Skaven track used as a basis for example.
-
Speaking of XM, there is also a merged XM version of the soundtracks of "Unreal" - which were about a dozen S3M files IIRC. So this could be the same procedure here...?
-
Wow, an .XM version, with channel panning and probably other things lost. :/
-
the worst thing is probably that some speed settings are not restored when changing to the next part, so there will be some parts with A0C speed although it should be A06 ;D
-
So I personally emailed Skaven to see if he knew anything. Ans his reply was:
Hmm... I'm afraid you're right: I've never really tracked any XMs - the
only XM I ever made was for a PocketPC version of Bookworm, whose audio
engine required the song to be in XM format. Judging by the name, I
doubt it's one of my songs, either.
I don't know why I was named as the author of that song. Earlier on,
back in the 90s I was actually the sample thief, because I completely
lacked the facilities to make my own.
Well, let's hope you can still find that module. I'd be curious to hear
it if you do. :)
...so the search continues. Specifically for leaven.xm NOT by Skaven.

I was going through some old backup CD's and LO! It was on the cd.
It says right in the instrument listing that the sounds were ripped from icefront.s3m by Skaven... so there you have it.

Haha yeah, backup cds are always a good source for old treasures. :D Glad you could find the tune.
