NitroTracker Tracks & Songs / MatriM3's 31 Day Challenge
« on: June 29, 2009, 19:25:00 »
Hello all Nitrotracker users! I am going to be starting a 31 day challenge in which I will make (or try to make) and submit a song every day for the month of July, using only Nitrotracker and any samples that will work in Nitro (recorded and vocal samples included).

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CHALLENGE, PM ME AND I WILL GIVE YOU AN EMAIL TO SEND SUBMISSIONS TO!!!!

If you do participate YOU DON'T HAVE TO SUBMIT A SONG EVERY DAY, JUST TRY TO WORK ON ONE EACH DAY EVEN IF IT TAKES YOU TWO OR THREE DAYS TO MAKE.

IMPORTANT!!!: Submit your songs by 12:00 AM (or midnight for you 24 hour clock people) EST on that day. So for July 1st, you would have all day to work on the song and then you submit it by midnight that night. If you don't submit it in time for me to put it up that day, then I will just put it up the next day around noon EST.

---

For the first day, I am going to submit three previously created songs that were unreleased and have been edited on July 1st.

The Lobby / Help with recording
« on: February 10, 2009, 00:33:55 »
Hey, I was thinking of starting to record some of my Nitrotracker and Korg DS-10 songs to mix them together and make final songs (final as in better sounding, fuller songs). Anything you recommend?

I know I definitely need an at least medium quuality double-headed 1/8" headphone jack cable (preferably one with a split end for left and right channels), and one (or two if split) 1/8" headphone jack to USB cables (these are the most versatile, because the comp I'm working on right now has no audio-in ports, and it would work with any new computer I would ever get).

So any suggestions other than that, or for what cables and such I should get?

The Lobby / Which one should I send in?
« on: January 27, 2009, 00:32:26 »
I made two songs for the Soundevotion Competition and I'm trying to pick which one to send in.

It would help if you guys give your opinion on both and suggest which one I should send in. If you guys read this please check them out and comment, PLEASE!

NOTE: For some reason, the transition from Nitrotracker to the computer doesn't seem to pick up any of the "stops" (I guess that's what you call them: when you stop the sample that's playing in a certain column with what looks like a block in most trackers). So, if they don't show up, then tell me, and I'll make an mp3 and "fixed" version of each.

They are here:

The Lobby / Renoise: Should I get it?...
« on: January 21, 2009, 23:26:52 »
Is it worth it to pay for Renoise? I'm looking to start tracking/making music on the computer (yay step up from my DS!) and was looking at Renoise.

I saw that you have to pay, where as all the tracking programs I've seen are free.

What I'm asking is: Is it worth it to buy Renoise? and not if Renoise is good or not.

So, should I order it or should I just look for a tracker/freeware program?

EDIT: Supposedly, the RC1 is public freeware now and it will upgrade to 2.0 "full" automatically, but I can't find it anywhere. Any help? A link?

If this isn't allowed, please, by all means, close this thread.

Did you guys see the news about 1UP? That shit sucks. It really, really sucks.

Sorry for the "off topic"-ness, but I just found out about it.

Help Support Topics Archive / [closed] modules being rejected
« on: January 10, 2009, 00:34:37 »
I was just wondering what made my modules considered "not of sufficient quality." They were these 4:

    * File: into_focus.xm
    * MD5: 99349c7e95f5c89394d10daaf6010f4b
    * Reason: The module was rejected because it was not of sufficient quality (on Wed 7th Jan 2009).

    * File: a_moved_shot.xm
    * MD5: d34c114f37e354fd6939d1621d97ad17
    * Reason: The module was rejected because it was not of sufficient quality (on Wed 7th Jan 2009).

    * File: breakbust.xm
    * MD5: 11c7d5c1e6c41678130d66615fb8780f
    * Reason: The module was rejected because it was not of sufficient quality (on Wed 7th Jan 2009).

    * File: mellow_dish_march.xm
    * MD5: ea3606c10362ced5633487a771b4280c
    * Reason: The module was rejected because it was not of sufficient quality (on Wed 7th Jan 2009).

I just included the info so that it would help in finding them if need be, but can I reupload them with the artist tag on the front of the file name? If not, could you explain the reason behind the choice?

I was actually pretty proud of "A Moved Shot" and "Into Focus" (seeing as they lead into each other, those would be the most important ones to at least upload...PLEASE!). Those were the two songs that I actually wanted to get uploaded along with "Bebox Champion" and "Fuse Faction" (which got uploaded; but not these four?). I could understand Mellow Dish's ending as "low quality," but I thought that the other three were up to par...I guess not...

Not ragging on the screening process, just want to know why these were rejected...

EDIT: I really thought that Breakbust wold get in, too...oh well...

The Lobby / help with using LAME encoder with OpenMPT
« on: January 05, 2009, 01:29:34 »
How do I install or use the LAME encoder with OpenMPT? The native Windows encoder sucks, so I wanted to use LAME but didn't know how.

Any help?

NitroTracker Community / NitroTracker Compo #1
« on: December 24, 2008, 18:30:34 »
Ok, since the other Comp #1 was a complete failure, I (through mocrey's suggestion) have decided to close it and start up a new first comp. This comp has a Christmas/holidays theme, in which you should remix ONE of these songs:

  • Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
  • The Twelve Days of Christmas
or
  • Silent Night

You can choose to remix more than one if you really want to, but, you can only submit one for judging.

The rules are as follows:

1. Enter a song based on the theme suggested. (You must host the song for download in the XM format)
2. Give songs entered in the comp 1 to 5 based on these criteria:
  • Originality
  • Continuity/"Flow"
  • Sample Range (as in the range of the samples used)
  • Length (with consideration to if it helps or detracts from the song's over all value)
  • Ending (as in how does the ending affect the song: good closing, bad closing?)
You should give reasons for your score, no matter how brief.
3. Add all these together to get the final score out of 25.
4. You cannot score your own song.
5. You may only submit one song.
6. You should give an honest opinion when submitting your scores.

Anyone can score these songs as long as you have actually listened to them.

I'm extending the deadline.

So, GET THESE SUBMISSIONS IN BEFORE JANUARY 21 IF YOU WANT THEM TO BE JUDGED.

THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED.

NitroTracker Support / forum suggestion
« on: December 21, 2008, 23:49:28 »
I think that this sub forum should have an artist section. It doesn't take that long, and it would be more organized.

Just a suggestion...
