MilkyTracker Tracks & Songs / Re: So am I doing this right?
« on: May 20, 2008, 10:48:30 »
There's sound coming out of the tracker, so yes, you're doing it right! :) This is pretty good, actually. And very much so for a first try. I've seen much more random attempts at effect usage so I'm glad that the manual is proving helpful.

I like the effects your usage of the "delay track" on channel 4 on patterns 1 and 2 produces. On pattern 1, using another sample for the delay track gives the sound a weird presence and on pattern 2, playing the "delays" an octave lower forms like a canon.

If you want a pointer, here's one: you don't need to repeat the parameter 4 for the Axy command, setting it once at the top of the pattern (or even beginning of the song but not practical when working) is enough. Simply using A00 after that will repeat the last parameter, 4. This comes in extra handy if you realize you should have used another value. Much less searching and replacing.

1. Access the HD Recorder
  • Using the internal file browser, click Save As, choose .wav file type, choose a file name and click Save.
    OR
  • Press Ctrl-(Alt)-R.

2. Choose your output options and click Record
  • (As, if you didn't already choose a file name and want it to be something other than Untitled.wav)

Now you have a .wav and if you want, you can encode it to mp3 or anything.

Help me find that... / Re: Help find 'Maker Faire' chiptune
« on: May 11, 2008, 18:17:29 »
What makes you think it is a module or chiptune? Sure it resembles them, but it's clearly made using (soft?) synthesizers. At best it's done using a more modern tracker that supports VSTs, outside the scope of TMA.

Bug Report Archive / Re: CPU intensive usage

Doesn't happen here.

EDIT: OK, I can see the behavior using cubic or sinc resamplers but that's not a natural state for .XM. :)

Use less Jam channels.

Tracking / Re: modern tracking methods

No, there isn't. Maybe with some (non-existing) XRNS tool you could make something of the XML but seems pretty pointless to me.

In this particular case at least, ping pong sounds like the correct alternative.

The file seems to be corrupt, it doesn't load in Fasttracker II. The behavior you describe applies to v0.90.80 as well but an update is still recommended.

Hmm. I guess it could be a lot of things, but did you accidentally press the "Instruments" button on top of the instrument box?

One shot loop is a ProTracker feature/bug that first plays the sample from beginning to end bypassing the loop points and then plays it again, this time with a forward loop. It only works when loop start is at 0, otherwise it switches to normal forward loop. One shot does not work in .XMs (and is probably widely unsupported in .MOD players too).
