MilkyTracker News / Re: MilkyTracker 0.90.85 Release Candidate
« on: December 31, 2009, 17:51:00 »
Great news! I've been away for quite a while but I'll test it on my system. I've checked the milkyTracker web site several times and it never loads, just times out. Has there been a change in url?

Windows Xp sp3
Raeon 7550 GFx Card
Amd 7550 dual core 2.7ghz
2GB Ram

And again, too bad I've not been around for a while. I'm into making games with Game Makers but i also want to try composing my own tunes for it. :)

NOW I see the new .org url for MT. Great!

Anyway, I'm here again!

Well I'm no programmer but it's good to see open source software that's actually good. Hopefully, if possible, maybe someone could start supporting MED/MEDSS formated mods? I've got a lot of unfinished/almost finished tunes in MED format that I can only work with using Open MODPLUG Tracker. (That I know of..)

I like MPT but I just can't get use to it. It's kinda tweaky for me and I have a crappy sound card. The buffers need to be set to a high cache and trying to compose when you have to wait 1-3 seconds for your sound to come through gets annoying, and problematic. Milky Tracker isn't a problem in that area. Maybe a bit but buffers can be set to a lower latency and things are fine without all the crackle... :)

At any rate, cheers on the release. I still had v .60

Hello folks. I just was trying out Milky Tracker cause it feels and reminds me a lot of the old "Limited" OctaMED Pro 4.1 I used a lot from 1993-2000 on my Ami (but only casually, not all the time).

I have composed a lot of short tracks, and some not too short. I like re-composing video game tunes (mostly the old 8bit types) and enjoy doing it. I hope there will be some good things going on here. I'm not the best tracker in the world (I think that would be, as far as more famous guys go either Bjorne Lynn, Jogeir Liljedahl, Tim Wright or someone like the Lizard King..)

Who knows really, those guys are good. :) We'll see ya on the forums. Cheers!

Hey, I'm new here too, but I know what a MOD is. It's a music MODule. Protracker was the first?.. to feature the MOD format. These things have their instruments included with the composition info that it was created with. An XM is the extended scremtracker modules.. But not too sure the construction.

You also have the .MED (Music EDitor) module types developed by Teijo Kinnunen originally for Amiga back in 89 now maintained by RBF Software UK. Aside from those, you have your  it (Impulse Tracker) formats, s3m which is a part of Screamtracker.

Correct me if I'm away from the truth.. :) thanks
