the speed command changing the speed is mainly a side effect of the speed command changing the ticks per row. so it can (and sometimes is) used to create some fine effects with apperigo command (0xx).

at F06 the apperigo is run twice (c, d#, g, c, d#, g)
at the lines with F05 the apperigo is run 1 5/6 times (c, d#, g, c, d#)
the effect of this is the main cause for that 'jiggy shuffle sound' in many modules that use this technique.
