Mod Archive Distribution license - a non transferable license created when the uploader agrees to the terms of the site. We are granted sole permission to redistribute the upload, and none of those redistribution rights are passed on to anyone else.

The Lobby / Re: Finding a module by MD5

Its possible via the lite site. http://lite.modarchive.org/

What Saga said, plus, chiptunes tend to get easier acceptance due to their small storage foot print, unlike huge, shitty, mega-sample based "newbie crap" (often song rips too) which we got lots and lots of. Those get binned. Oh gosh. So many.

Another thing is, since we now have accounts with people being able to rate modules compared to pre-2004, we have the ability for members to tell a user their module is good/shit by rating and comment. So eventually all the cream rises to the top, but we still like to give that a head start, hence the screening :-)

I think your EP idea is nice, but if anyone make a module which is irritating and with very little musical value (as Saga mentioned), yeah it might fall foul.

Since you've contacted us though I don't foresee an issue, unless Saga hates it so bad he mashes his keyboard and deletes the universe.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Tracking / Re: TrackerPub!
« on: May 13, 2014, 03:50:17 »
There was me thinking there had been a new Pub opened for trackers where we could drink and get tunes on the bar jukebox.

I'll check this out, I have linux but have to install QT shared libs first and i am _really_ low on disks space (15gb SSD). hehe. Nice.

Ok, it is fixed. But you can (in future) correct this problem yourself:

Or rate your modules 10/10! This makes more work!

Also, don't favourite your own modules! You won't be able to associate the module to your profile if you do that. Plus its pretty lame doing that ;)

Hi,

We had some major database problems yesterday (on which I spent until 5am the next morning fixing). It is in between the backups, so it is still there (as you can see).

I will fix it.

Website News Archive / Uploads back online

Updated: Ok, so we had some pretty major problems go undetected for a long time - our file hasher was not hashing properly and as such some modules have been overwritten with incorrect files, this has been fixed now. There are a few missing files but those are currently being  re-added to the archive, some were lost as far back as 2004!

If you spot any anomalies on your artist profiles, please get in touch as I'd like to fix them.  If you find modules on the archive which should belong on a certain profile, we would also like to know because we can add them manually. There are a lot of dormant profiles which we are more than happy to associate modules to, again, get on the forum so we can hash this out.

Pun totally intended.

I'm doing some corrective maintenance.
Uploads will be back up sometime tomorrow!

Website News Archive / DMF Support Added

Hello!

Mod Archive now supports DMF format (X-Tracker).

This is experimental at the moment, and may pave the way forward for supporting more "classic" formats in the future.

Playable with XMPlay with this plugin (works in Wine too) or libopenmpt (comes with a cross-platform command line player, and input plugins for XMPlay, Winamp and Foobar2000).

Big thanks go to Saga Musix for helping with updating instrument parser.

Also, there has been some tweaks done to the site, unfortunately there are times when I've screwed something up and broken further down the chain, and I won't notice it for days - so if you spot something that isn't working anymore please get in touch.
