Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a community based internet radio station that played good mods? It wouldn't be a serious full-time thing, different people could host it at different times to accomadate different people's schedules. Each dj would play different genres according to their tastes. It would help aritists get publicity and make people more exposed to the mod scene.

Yeah, would be cool
There is one that plays nothing but mods most of the time :)

also for general demoscene (good though) music:

The number of demoscene/tracking scene related radio station is actually countless; those two are just popular examples. Another one (more like scenemusic) is BitFellas (http://www.bitfellas.org/). And I, too, stream some classic demoscene music from time to time.

Yeah and you talk your awesome Terminator .de voice in between, not to be missed.
-
This one would be official, it would be the definitive station for what the community deems worthy to play. And it would be reliable, because it would not depend on just one person's free time.
-
Have you actually visited Scenemusic or SceneSat? Those also don't "depend on just one person's free time".
-
That's cool if no one's into it. I just thought it would be cool if there was a modarchive.org "official" station.
-
Well, the thing about a "modarchive station" is that it requires a lot of time beforehand as many modules, are not really, errrr, suitable for radio purposes, settings for every mod have to be made (interpolation options, looping settings, etc) - I guess the project would even die before it goes "live on air".
-
First of all, you didn't make it clear that you meant a "modarchive" station, you just said a "community radio", hence the notion that there already exists such - not that there is no interest in your idea. But I personally feel there is little need for yet another streaming station.
Besides my personal feelings, and those technical issues outlined by Saga - who's going to pay for this? Servers don't come for free. I struggle to get by as it is on the donations to keep this site on-line, and that's with a very cheap dedicated server hosting plan as it is. To do a radio would require another server, the current one is maxxed out running this website alone! :(
The immense amount of work (as Saga stated) just makes this a detraction from the purpose of this website, and is just, well, unfeasible in an "official" capacity.
If a community member wants to set up an "unofficial" station, then there is nothing stopping them from doing so if they really want to put the effort in (and money).
By the way, you'll find that Nectarine (scenemusic.eu) has essentially pulled most of it's music library from modarchive, and setting up a competing station against Nectarine - which has already faced it's own set of setbacks recently - would be like us stabbing them in the face with a broken hard drive. We're scene family after all. :)

Guys,
the Demovibes radio is something. I somewhat never thought of having a demoscene radio, now I'm addicted!
A BIG thank you goes to you guys, you provided me with endless demoscene resource (hence I was dumb enough not to think of this possibility). Anyway, this also kicked the creativity in myself and I began tracking again, finally. ;D
Thanks.
