Title: PSF to MOD
Post by: drspa44 on February 19, 2008, 17:37:25
Is there a way of doing this? Ideally on a mac... Wikipedia says that it involves sequencing so it is sort of a cross between a midi and an mp3 - sort of like a mod.

I'm still looking for a way of playing files ending with 11C, 22C and 44C.

Are you speakign about Final Fantasy midi files? Actually, I'm not aware of any converter, but there may be PSF->MID converters around... Actually, all FF8 modules were made by listening to the original tunes. PSF in Final Fantasy, however, is not a crossing between MP3 and MIDI, but it is a special midi format that can access a standard Downloadable Soundfont (*.DLS) - Which is like every other MID tune.
There is a PSF player available for WinAmp.

I'm referring to the PSF format that is used in most (all?) PS1 games. On the MODLAND ftp, there are lots of psf files for different games. I wanted to know whetether I could look at it like a MOD or MIDI file, i.e. seeing the note sequence, samples, etc... I'm actually specifically looking at the Crash Bandicoot soundtrack, which I have managed to play in an app called Audio Overload simply. I wonder what steps the composers go through to make these; what programs they use.
