Friends of NitroTracker!
It's certainly been some time since v0.3, but NitroTracker is still
alive - more alive than ever in fact! I can proudly announce:
But, even more importantly:
NitroTracker v0.4 is finally out and ready for download!
Get it from
http://nitrotracker.tobw.net (http://nitrotracker.tobw.net)
The main new features are:
* Loops
* Volume Envelopes (drawable)
* Multi-Sample Instruments
* Channel Mute / Solo
Also: Lots of tiny improvements
There's hardly a part of the program that wasn't touched since the last
release. I've paid a lot of attention to detail in order to make
NitroTracker an easy and convenient to use, yet powerful mobile tracker.
Some of these changes are:
* wav saving
* free ram indicator
* sample preview
* the file browser remembers recent folders and files
* improved xm player
* volume column editing
* sample panning
* improved left handed mode
Want to hear what it sounds like?
Some awesome tracks made with NitroTracker can be listened to on the
download page:

New Tutorials
The documentation has been updated with new tutorials on editing samples
and loops. You can learn how to tune your instruments and apply volume
envelopes and how to hook up the DS to MIDI.
It's tested!
The NitroTracker beta testers have intensely tested this new release for
months to ensure I didn't miss even a single bug. And they sure kept me
busy! Thanks a lot you guys! If you want to join the fun, just drop me
an e-mail!
Opening of the Official NitroTracker Forum and IRC
Today, the official NitroTracker Forum kindly hosted by the Mod Archive
opens! No matter if you have questions, want to share your work, suggest
new features or report bugs, this is the place.
Also, NitroTracker now has it's own IRC channel! If you're up for a
chat, just join #nitrotracker on Espernet!
I'm very happy with this new release that I've been working on for a
long time now. To put it in Steve Jobs' terms:
v0.4 is the best NitroTracker in the world - ever!
Up till now, I must add.
Have fun!

Great work!

Go Miss 0xtober!
-
Yeay 0.4 is looking great, thanks for including my track (aka ChrisLody)
Fame and fortune awaits I'm sure ;D
Cheers
-
wow, you've outdone yourself this time... looping and envelopes completely changed the program (i can make instruments better!).
-
Thanks for the update!
-
Again... you are my freaking hero.
-
Amazing, it's ten times more usable and stable.
I actualy started a "serious" tune with it (as opposed to "test" ones ;)).
Marvelous work 0xtob!
-
what a great update - this is so much more fun to use and adds in some serious sound-editing and composition functions. already i'm loving the fact that you can jam over the top of your music without the sound cutting out - can't wait to have a proper play.
-
oh and i really love the ram usage indicator, this was always something that made me feel a bit uneasy before - never knowing when you were going to max out.
-
Good job on the tutorial!
I haven't seen such a clear and well written tutorial in ages.

Thank you very very much, i am grateful

I'm new to the tracker scene, but your tutorial helped me at least understand NitroTracker v0.4. I haven't written anything on it yet, but I'll post up my first xm as soon as possible. Thanks for a GREAT DS homebrew!!!

just for curiosity, any idea when version 0.5 comes out? :)
-
I had to take a longer coding break, and before the break I started refactoring the GUI toolkit which turned out more complex than I thought. However I'm sure 0.5 will come this year. Sorry to pull a Blizzard, but I think "coming winter" seems a realistic date announcement to me.
Nevertheless, there's a bunch of cool stuff I'm planning, e.g. sample drawing is already implemented, effects support is high on the todo list and then there's going to be DSi homebrew real soon which opens the door for more ram and computing power, better wireless, SD card storage etc. "When it's done", the new release will be announced here and via the mailinglist, so stay tuned!
-
Have you been able to fix the stop note problem where the notes keep on going past the stop note? In other words, have you made the XMs compatible with other XM players?
Also, is there any stable beta that some people could start testing?
-
Yea, I think I fixed that already. Unfortunately the program is in a completely unusable state right now since the GUI toolkit is undergoing heavy refactoring. I'll announce it to the beta testers when a beta is ready. If anyone wants to become a beta tester, drop me a pm with your e-mail address.
