Title: [no bug] E5X bug?
Post by: javamannen2 on September 13, 2008, 00:06:59
According to my ears, the Finetune (E5x) table for FTII mode shown in the manual doesn't match the values actually used in the program. The table says that the center (finetune 0) should be at E57, but it actually sounds more like the center is at E56 (or very close to it).

Also, there's probably a typo in that table: the first value should probably be -128, no?

You're right, there's a typo. But the center is actually E58. I don't know where that table got so mangled but I'm going to investigate. If your ears are telling you E56 is closer to a note without an E5x, your sample finetune setting (in the instrument editor) is probably closer to -32 than 0. (In fact, my wild guess is -28.)

EDIT: The manual (online (http://www.milkytracker.net/docs/MilkyTracker.html#fxE5x)) has been updated with the correct values.

You're right. I just loaded up a sample and wrongly assumed it would have a default finetune value of 0.

Anyway, the quick reference printouts have the same incorrect values.
