Does anyone know of a mod player for Windows that will loop mods that have the loop instruction? I.e. the mod tells it to jump back to a previous track, and it loops indefinitely. thx

Sounds like a fairly standard feature but XMPlay, for one, certainly has it. You just have to enable looping.

XMPlay (http://un4seen.com) is kinda specialized on this stuff :) You can loops tracks forever or just once, you can fade them out, etc...

thanks guys. XMPlay seems to do the trick. it's kind of funny, though; apparently it will only heed the mod's looping instruction if i turn repeat on (referring to the little button with the curvy arrows), and if i turn repeat on it loops any mod with or without a looping instruction. yet in the options you can select to loop only if there's a loop instruction or only if the loop instruction doesn't point all the way to the beginning. so doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.
and one of my favorite mods, elysium.mod, which loops, won't load under xmplay. i click on it and it simply closes the file selection dialog and does absolutely nothing. :/ i wondered if perhaps it just doesn't support mods with more than 4 channels, although that's strange since it supports .it, .xm, .s3m, .mp3, .ogg, .wma, etc.

if you mean Elysium by Jester, that works fine in XMPlay here... if not, well... xmplay supports many formats, but it doesn't support .MODs with only 15 samples - you can convert them or use the oldsk00l plugin (see support.xmplay.com).

Yeah, the one by jester.. that's strange, it just won't load on mine. maybe my elysium.mod is different somehow. it claims to have 4 channels and 31 samples though. my file is 86,676 bytes and has an md5 of 78DE755B1B6E122F57A789C4934F238B.

ok, i downloaded the one from modarchive and it's the same song but a different size. i think i vaguely remember that the one i have used some sort of stripping or internal compression or something like that. it works now :d

The xmp-modpacker plugin could help with your original file.
