Title: MP3s of lost mods... could be identifyable by an expert
Post by: alex_mauer on November 13, 2008, 17:02:26
http://headlessbarbie.com/unknownmods

in 1995 my cousin made a "mix tape" with mod files recorded on it... for his walkman - after hearing a series of tapes my cousin made, i wanted to do computer music... thats how i got into tracking and got my first computer - he had an HDD crash in 96 and lost a lot of those songs... so we have been trying to track them down ever since

i made mp3s of the songs that i have not been able to track down -  the files took me years to find - i have all but these 6 songs at this point - any expert ears out there? thx

~alex

ps - we found 66 of the songs from the tapes... so i have done a lot of work since 1996 finding these songs... only 6 more to go - plz help

#7 is using a sample which is also heard in a few of the Jesus on Es demo modules but this is not one of them. Other than that I don't recognise any of these.

Title: "LostWare"
Post by: TaoPhoenix on January 19, 2009, 03:14:42

Here's a question I have been working on for some time now. You guys are among the best in the scene, so if *you* don't know what a piece is, I'm not sure very many other people in the world do. I am not aware of any master controlling entity for the tracker scene that would parallel the standard music labels.

Banking on the generally friendlier atmosphere in this already niche scene, I am interested in something we can call "UnknownWare". The idea is that it is used provisionally with a replacement backup in mind, and a specific link to its unidentified status.

New developing creative artists need something to mash around and learn on. However, if the actual artist does surface, they would be respectfully asked if the piece can continue to be used as a form of promotion, or if they wish it taken down, it would be replaced. Then a thread such as this would be updated with the now-located creator information.

Opinions?
