Title: This year's hosting fund level (2008)
Post by: m0d on December 02, 2008, 15:20:48
2008 Goal

Looks like the fund is gonna be short on the goal this year, but many many thanks to those who have donated, it helps incredibly (http://modarchive.org/forums/Themes/default/images/post/thumbup.gif)

Doesn't look like I'll be able to afford the next tier of server (faster, bigger, better) next year based on the costs vs income at the moment. I don't think you can expect any more performance improvements of the site, the increasing load (sheer number of visitors) is getting increasingly worrying. Still, we'll just have to brave it with what we've got. As usual, I cover any uncovered costs, the donations have cut that in half so far, so that's a good thing. Update:

We've done it! In what appears to have been an insane show of generosity, we received about 285 euros of donations since I posted this thread, taking the donation-status meter into the negative "to go"!

Quote
Moreitzj donated €110.00 on Fri 26th December 2008

donated €50.00 on Tue 23rd December 2008

donated €25.00 on Tue 16th December 2008

Amigan donated €50.00 on Tue 16th December 2008

Moo! donated €50.00 on Fri 12th December 2008

This means together the server hosting for 2008 has been paid up fully and a little extra left over to start next year's fund!  8) 8) 8)

To all those that donated, it's really really wonderful you folks support this site the way you do, I am sincerely blown away by the rallying support which has come about through the passion shared for Mod Archive.

Again, thank you!

Note: From this year's donation drive, Paypal took 40 euros in fees, which isn't too bad :)
