Title: MilkyTracker Portable?
Post by: usrfriendly on December 14, 2008, 08:50:05
So, I was wondering, would there be a chance at a PortableApps.com version of Milkytracker?  I searched the forum there, and saw that Kmuland brought up MilkyTracker a couple of years ago (assuming it's the same Kmuland as is here), but it never got any farther than an interesting read in a forum.  Unfortunately, I don't have any knowledge of any programming language, but honestly think it would be a great idea, as far as spreading MilkyTracker.  Any thoughts?  Could it be done?  Would it be done?

Extract the MilkyTracker Windows binary archive in \PortableApps\MilkyTracker, open the PortableApps.com menu and select Options > Refresh App Icons. That's all you need. As for spreading, yeah, the PortableApps.com audience would be new audience but I dunno.. Would it belong there, how would it fit in?

At the time of posting, I was really paranoid about regsitry entries as I wanted to take it to school with me, and didn't read the post close enough that kmuland made over there about Milkytracker.  Shortly after the post, I went back, read the post again, and promptly stuck MilkyTracker on my flash drive.  Just to clear it up...

Milkytracker doesn't create any registry entries, all settings are stored in a config file stored in the same directory as the executable.
