Title: MilkyTracker MacOSX Help?
Post by: Kitsunexus on January 06, 2009, 00:09:57
Hello all, this is my first post here, and I'd like to say that MilkyTracker is a WONDERFUL tracker! Unfortunately, the XP box it is running on is not exclusively mine, so I can't use it everytime I want to. However, just today I've received a PPC G3 iMac slot-loader 400MHZ with 256MB, running OSX10.2, and when I found out that MT runs on OSX, I was overjoyed!

So I downloaded the package, unzipped it, and launched the app, but the MilkyTracker carton just jiggles in the Finder bar and disappears? How can I get this to work? Any advice would be appreciated.

Just to be clear, did you download the OS X package marked "G3 compatible"?

I don't think MilkyTracker still runs on 10.2, it requires some Frameworks/Libraries which are not present. Or what raina said could be true as well. Try running MilkyTracker from the Console instead of the Finder, it might give you some hints about it.

I did get the G3 compatible version. How do I upgrade from 10.2? This is my first Mac, I'm usually a Windows/DOS dude.

You need 10.3 as an official installer CD/DVD. It is a paid update and not freely available, but it is worth it.

OK, I'll get that and some RAM with my next paycheck. Hopefully that's all it needs!
