Did you guys see the news about 1UP? That shit sucks. It really, really sucks.

Dunno really. Never read EGM myself (It's American, dunno what the readership outside of the US was like). Sign of the times with printed publications going anyway... I recently cancelled my sub to Edge magazine because international subs costs so much money. It is a great mag, but money better spent these days.

Also, Neogaf and the 1UP boards have threads regarding this subject.
The reason for the response to the firings is mainly because the draw of 1UP was there internet staff. These people made great podcasts, but not everyone wants to hear nerds talk about video games, so, the affect it has on people is a mixed bag. I personally wasn't sobbing my eyes out nor was not going to school/work, but it was a shock none the less.
Good luck to those staff members still looking for jobs and it's great to hear that not everyone was fired there at least.
