Title: another hello
Post by: alecs_brs on February 27, 2009, 22:30:15
Hi all,

Just registered to ask a question on the forums, but I'm a LONG time user of the modarchive. My HUGE appreciations to m0d for all the work over the years.

I'd also like to mention my collection of converted tunes - all hand-mastered with love using the best replayers I can find for linux.

Thanks,

Hi Alecs, welcome...

Is that a sort of podcast?

My site is not a podcast, just a search engine.

The BitJam podcast is what I was referring to earlier: http://www.bitfellas.org/page.php?100

Ah - the esnips site. That's just a free place I can post my mp3/ogg conversions of tracker (and chip) tunes. I master 'em for my portable media player but I thought I'd share them.

you should get a device that supports the Rockbox OS. Then you can listen to mods and sids without having to convert them first. :D

Rockbox uses DUMB, I believe, which is a nice replayer, but there are still lots of tweaks that should be done to most tunes to make them sound "nice". I use multiband compressions, 31-band EQ, hand-drawn volume envelopes and even multi-channel mixdown in my mastering.

I can also fix bad songends (cutoffs, etc) and custom-set the panning on amiga mods. DUMB is nice but mastered is better :)
