Title: Can I change the global volume of a sample?
Post by: Danelock on March 22, 2009, 19:48:24
In one of my modules, the drum is too loud.  How can I lower the global volume of the drum so it isn't so loud?

Change the volume of the instrument in the instrument editor panel?

Yeah.  How do I do that?

I've never used MilkyTracker before; I just like listening to modules.

Select the sample you want, click Ins. Ed. and adjust the volume on the right, next to the Exit button. Note that any volume commands on the pattern will override this setting.

If that's happening for you, you can use the Ctrl/Alt/Shift/-V shortcuts to scale volume commands per pattern, selection or track respectively. Or, if you're not using the volume envelope for anything else, you can set up a constant volume, which the volume commands can't touch. As a last resort, you can always select the sample in the sample editor and lower the volume the the Vol(ume boost) function. In that case it is notable that you cannot restore the original volume anymore, without loss of quality (bits).
