when in 94 or so, i used to listen to MODs,
there was a DOS MOD player,
i dont remember if it was full command line,
but the only thing i remmeber was , it had COVOX support, because i only had covox,
and it had BLUE BARS for showing the sound volume,
like a volume analizer, but only one for channel. Four Blue Bars...
thats all i recall , it was really cool , the sound quality was cheap,
just my taste.
any body have ideias????

Browsing around this forum, I think I happen to know the answer to your query - what you are referring to might be modplay by Mark J. Cox. It still can be run from dosbox (I ran it today). It had two notable versions, v1.12 and v2.19b. Had had a great time using this program... Though I later used other trackers (namely Inertia player, Visual player 2.0), modplay was (is) THE module player for me, despite it being limited to only 4 channels etc. Here's a webpage for this (lost) gem of software:

Renergy, Thank you for the link to modplay, that was the original mod player I used on my 286. I has since lost it, and been using iplay, vp, cp, and dmp which were all good, but missed the classic modplay. Never did get round to making a parallel port DAC from the instructions, as when I got my 486 in 95 I bough an 8 bit sound blaster for it so there was no need. Thanks again.
