Title: Smallest possible XM?
Post by: G43L on June 16, 2009, 10:23:54
Hi all,

I need an original technoid .xm file for an intro... I replay using uFMOD.
The .xm must be as small as possible (max 4 KB).
Does anyone has something on his disk or is ready to create something?
I hope so :)

I could write something for you, but there's a huge difference between smallest possible and 4kB. :)

Yes, it is true :) With a 4 KB module, the intro makes 15 KB. My goal is to keep it at 16 KB maximum.
If you could write something, I would be very pleased...

Lamb's "among the stars" is 4KB (I think it's 4 drivemakers' KB actually - 4000B), but it's probably not the genre you're looking for.

Two notes:
1. I highly recommend that you look at it in a tracker, you may get some ideas. Note that there are a lot of speed changes.
2. It plays on almost nothing. It breaks in mikmod and modplugplay, and theoretically would break in vlc. It doesn't quite play right in SchismTracker. I have confirmed that it plays fine in XMPlay. It SHOULD play fine in FastTracker2.

Hello GreaseMonkey,

I've received an e-mail with many tunes from Lamb this night ;)
The music I've chosen is not as small as wanted (15 KB) but it is really a nice one...

Thank you for your reply...

Sorry, but I'm a bit in a hurry. If you have something interesting, I'll take it. The modules
Lamb has sent are very beautiful and I've chosen the one that could match with the intro...

Do not hesitate to send me something if possible (I can send you the intro as it is now
if you want)...

Regards,
G43L

Well, as I'm not ready yet and you're in a hurry, I think you'd better use the one you already found fitting.

Hi Raina,

Thank you for having proposed to help... Maybe for another time :)

Did Lamb actually send you his stuff personally, or did someone just send you a bunch of Lamb's stuff without his permission?

I find it odd, because Lamb hasn't shown up here yet.

Yes, Lamb has sent his stuff personally... Because I've posted a message on www.modules.pl too.
