Title: Minor Glitch - causing a crash
Post by: dbz on September 10, 2009, 20:59:41
I'm running Win98SE and I posted here, back in May, about MilkyTracker hanging on exit. That problem was resolved (thank you) with version 0.90.85. However, I think something else got messed up in the process.

In the Sample Editor, if I switch from 8-bit to 16-bit before actually loading in a sample then I get this message:

"An attempt was made to save the current module in the application folder. Please report this error..."

After clicking the Ok button I get another error message:

MILKYTRACKER caused an invalid page fault in
module MILKYTRACKER.EXE at 016f:0049ef49.

If however I load in a sample first, then I am able to switch between 8-bit and 16-bit and there is no error or subsequent crash.

I tested older versions (0.90.60 and 0.90.80) and neither of them have this bug.
The pop-up window asking to confirm this flashes briefly, but then it just ignores the request and everything is fine.

So to summarize - this is only occuring in version 0.90.85 (MilkyTracker_mbcs_rtaudio3).
If anyone could look into this, it would be appreciated.

I think I've found this one a while ago, but it hasn't been released yet.

Looking forward to a new release in that case  ;)

DBZ, how did you get the 0.90.85 release?  I've been checking the site for months because Pailes found and fixed some bugs in the 0.90.80 release for the Pocket PC and although I can wait, if there's a way to get that now I'd love to have it.

There is no 0.90.85 release but IRC is the way to more recent test builds.

I spent my evening on the Milkytracker IRC channel. (My firewall at work will not pass IRC) It was fruitless.

* Now talking in #milkytracker
* Topic is '+++ Release anyone? +++ | milkytracker.ORG | Nooblets: if noone replies straight away, wait longer | pailes is lazy ;)'
* Set by Deltafire on Thu Nov 26 15:02:55
<DasKreestof> Does anyone here have the release candidate for PocketPC? The 0.90.80 version has some Internal Browser bugs that make it difficult to work with if you're using a hierarchal file structure. I'd love to get a newer/unreleased version.
<Storlek> read the topic
<DasKreestof> I read the topic, I'm waiting longer
<DasKreestof> I posted on the forums and the response I got was that the new releases could be obtained on the IRC channel
<DasKreestof> I read a bug report for a version post-0.90.80 on the forums, and the poster said that the version they had was obtained here
<DasKreestof> Pailes stated that the bugs I reported had been fixed, but I have no way of getting the updated version
<DasKreestof> Should I post a response on the forums that the beta release cannot be obtained here?

There was no response.

I think I'm S.O.L.
For the record, I don't think Pailes is lazy. I think he's busy. I don't think I can imagine how big a project like this is, and how difficult it is to find time for it when it doesn't pay.

That said, should I interpret Storleks response as "f off"? Or is everybody just annoyed with the same question while no one has the 85 release listed below?

The #milkytracker channel is mostly populated by European users, it's not surprising that you failed to get a response at 4AM!

Anyway, the guy you want to speak to is probably Raina - he's usually around during the day/evenings Central European Time.

I'll have to try on a weekend then. I'm sleeping or at work during Central European hours. (I can't access irc servers from work.)

We talked about a release yesterday. Having little trouble to gather all the binaries ;)

Sorry, I haven't been on the forums here for a while - otherwise I would have responded sooner. The version I have is actually 0.90.85. It just wasn't released - it was an update I was given to resolve the hanging issue in Win98. It's not the PocketPC version - so I unfortunately can't help you there. I'm glad to hear a new release may be coming soon though. Keep our fingers crossed.
