Title: MIDI Importing question
Post by: Dragoninstall on July 24, 2006, 02:49:50
Ah! Hey, I'm new to this stuff, so don't mind me.

I'll make Midis in GuitarPro but I have to touch them up in MOD programs to make them sounds better and for just better compatability. I use guitar Pro to make the Midis, and when I import it into Modplug Tracker it cuts off some of the notes too short. I'm a newbie to MODS, is there a cause for this? How would I go by fixing it?

Thanks!

Yeah, look at the instruments and there should be some sort of blue line with boxes. That is your volume envelope.

MIDI consists mainly of notes, note cuts and instrument choise. The actual instruments are stored on your computer and is very likelly to differ on different computers. These fade outs may be longer on your PC than ModPlug Tracker automatically presets.

To fix the problem, try to screw around with these envelopes until it sounds the way you want it. You could read the envelope section in my tutorial "Making Good Instruments Out of Bad Samples" which is to be found as a sticky on this forum. It should set you up, me thinks.

i dont' think that iT's only a problem with envelopes. i notice VERY OFTEN taht modplug cuts "normal" notes too short with the == command... so you have to move the == command down...

Or you could edit the FadeOut value in Instruments to a lower value other than the default 1280 (me thinks).
