Title: Effects Emulation
Post by: arist9912 on December 13, 2013, 18:20:11
Hi, i´ve started using milkytracker due it is avaiable on android but it supports only XM modules, so i ask:
-How I emulate the filter cutoff effect?
-How I also emulate the Low-pass and High-pass filters?
-How I emulate resonance?

These effects are from ImpulseTracker

Thanks

There's no real way that would work in all situations to emulate these features in the XM format. A few tricks can be applied to chip samples to emulate a filter, but these do not generally apply to "normal" samples. You'll have to bake the resonant filter into your samples basically. Or use a proper tracker. ;)

Ok, i give up. the effects can't be completely emulated. So, i've heard about a dos emulator for android called DOSbox turbo. will run impulsetracker on it without trouble?

"Depends". DOSBox can run Impulse Tracker just fine, given that you have a beefy machine (an Android device is far from being "beefy"). Furthermore, DOSBox does not emulate the MMX instruction set that is required to use filters in Impulse Tracker. Besides, IT is most likely not very usable on tiny screens, while MilkyTracker has been optimized for handhelds.
If you want a (cross-platform) tracker with fancy effects for Android, try SunVox (http://www.warmplace.ru/soft/sunvox/)
