Title: SID modules?
Post by: Bryd0 on March 17, 2016, 11:39:41
Just something that I thought about recently, and there are two things to ask about them. Firstly, where is the best place to find them as this site doesn't have them? And, could TheModArchive ever have them in the future, if possible?

Although, I remembered one site from 2006 that had SID modules and I think it was called "chiptune.org" or something like that, can't remember. Don't even know if the site still exists after all these years.

SIDs are not modules. SID files are binary code to be executed on the C64's CPU, and do not contain pattern data. Thus, they are not modules and TMA will thus never host SID files.
The one and only place to get pretty much all SIDs ever released is the High Voltage Sid Collection (http://www.hvsc.c64.org/). If you want to search for a specific tune in that collection, then Exotica has a search interface (http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Special:HVSC) for the HVSC.

The site that you remember is most likely http://chiptune.com/ - it does look quite a bit different these days but it's still the same site.

Oh, I see. Thanks for the explanation. By the way, that's not the same site I remembered. The one I recalled was just a site like this only that its front page had a large banner at the top and a search box at the near centre, with results shown like a table below. Damn, I wish I can remember that site's name... it's been so long.

And I'll check out that other site when I have time. Thank you for linking me to it :)

As said, the site looked very different back then. Maybe this looks more familiar to you? :) https://web.archive.org/web/20040730112715/http://www.chiptune.com/ (takes a while to load)

...nope. Doesn't ring a bell. It had a white background though.
