Title: Trap songs?
Post by: Nikku4211 on May 11, 2017, 22:30:09
Besides any of my modules if any of them are like that, are there any trap songs in here?

By trap, I mean the music genre called trap music. (http://runthetrap.com/what-is-trap-music/)

I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't, as trap is more of an American thing and module music is more of a European thing(not all people who make modules are European, of course).

It's probably less about location (there are plenty of trackers from the states and as far as I know Trap is also a thing over here in Europe) but probably more about age (many of us are probably more interested in recreating the genres and styles they grew up with, e.g. 80s/90s pop/techno/house/etc.) and also technicalities (many modern electronic genres "require" a certain amount of production value which is hard to achieve with pure samples - not impossible to do in a tracker but certainly very hard to achieve without any plugins *, so it's somewhat incompatible with the file types we allow at ModArchive).

* or long pre-baked sequences / building bricks à la Magix Music Maker, which is boring and limited.

I just have to add that we were using 808s before it was cool.

Well, since it's relevant, I'll use this opportunity to plug the album BGM by Yellow Magic Orchestra again, since it was the first album to use the TR-808 (in 1980)
