How can I add the artist's name to the .xm files?

The XM format has no standardized way to do this; the most common way is to write a message in the instrument names.

It's a convention to use the instrument text rather than sample text in XM for this; in particular because the sample list is not continuous like in e.g. S3M or IT, but a number of sample slots is assigned to each instrument instead. And practically, in Fasttracker 2 you will be able to read more instrument names than sample names at once.
