Title: No new submissions
Post by: Uberphawx on July 03, 2018, 08:42:47
Since the 24 of june there's no new modules on TMA

I know this is a short question, but that's worrying me a little
What's happening?
If that's already known then i may want to know....

It's only just over a week since the last new additions, 5 days for the new additions before that.

It's also summer time, usually a quiet period if it's hot. In the UK, we've had an unusually hot summer so far and I can hardly sit on my computer when it's 28c or higher, so I haven't..

I agree that this is taking way too long.

I'd be happy to waste my free time on being a screener if there's any need for it. If it means the process will be sped up, i'm sure everyone will benefit from it.

It has always taken a long time for modules to be screened, even before the summer. You'll just have to be patient here.

I am currently in the state of moving and have no means of screening the uploads (apart from my workplace where I really shouldn't be doing that). Bear in mind this is a privately ran website - we are neither YouTube nor Facebook.
That said, I am always willing to add new people to the screening team but experience sadly tells me that people very quickly lose interest in this job, and then end up doing it all by myself again. I'll send instructions to WouterVL and hopefully the situation will get better soon.

Thanks for adding me!

All the important stuff in the queue should be screened now. I only got around to doing the features today as i was waiting for Saga to answer some questions i had about the featuring process and how it works now that the screening team isn't very active. So if anyone was wondering why their (now featured) module wasn't up yet earlier, this is why. There won't be such delays the next time i get around to screening.

Hello,

I think my question is related to this topic at least a little bit so i ask my question here.

I just found old cd with ~2800 mods inside. Tried to search from archive and some are already there but some are not.

I can upload these to somewhere if somebody is interested to go these through and archive, i'm too busy (lazy) to do that.  Just thought that there might be something for somebody in this collection and archiving old stuff is important and i'm glad that you are keeping this archive running.

There was indexes which i copypasted to pastebin if anyone is interested to check these out.

I've had a quick look through the lists and I can see many familiar modules, but also some that I've never heard of and by people I've never heard either.

From a collectors point of view, I'd rather download the lot and check the archive out at my leisure, if there was a way to temporary host them for download.

Nice find btw... :)

Decided to check all cds i was going to throwing away. Found another cd which has .mod files from 1995/1996 (those previously listed are s3m/xm, forgot to mention that previously).

lists:
1995 mods: https://pastebin.com/udkYCFRC
1996 mods: https://pastebin.com/fiVQB5BC

Judging by the usual filesize of tracker modules, CDs can have a lot of them. Especially in the 1990's. Everybody, check your (or your parents') old CDs for any tracker modules unheard of.

Some people on Demozoo might also be interested. You can check out our Slack where many people interested in preserving old modules and other stuff that might linger in those archives hang around: http://slack.demozoo.org/

Thanks for the downloads..

Only had a quick look through the 1995 module archive so far.  Only a couple zip's corrupted but I'm not that bothered about those tbh.

All .exe and .com files gone, the AV has detected nothing untoward, so you must have sorted that out before uploading them.  ;D

Can I ask, just what CD's this lot came from? (Aminet/Hornet/etc. or they CD's burnt for yourself back in the day)?

They are all in their original archives, with .diz as well, with ratings, almost came off some internet archive, probably no longer existing....

Looking forward to checking them out further...

Hello,

Those CDs are burnt by myself or some buddy from time when burners came affordable to mortal people. No idea where those files are gathered, could be old dial-up BBS or early ftp sites.

I have always liked demos/mods since Amiga500 times and continued to follow scene when got pc, must be back from that time. I think i bought my first burner 1997 or 1998 so it could be 20 years old CD. Unfortunately couldn't find any more old stuff. I have still ~200 amiga 3.5" floppies waiting to check what those include, hope some nice old-skool stuff. Maybe someday i have again equipment to read those.

I put those mod/s3m/xm available to mega.nz. Just ask in private if you want links or i could post those here if it's allowed?

You could try asking for advice over at http://eab.abime.net/index.php
I'm sure there are a few experts on there..

Are you still running low on screeners Saga? I think I can help, though, I'm quite picky when it comes to good music.

Oh, I might as well ask, is there a board that lists all the current screeners?

New screeners are always welcome. I'll get back to you via PM in the next few days.
