Title: Tracker Music Starts - ASIKPack Vol. 1
Post by: ASIKWUSpulse on November 12, 2018, 22:33:43
Tracker Music Starts, A serie of sample pack libraries

This is Volume 1
It contains the IT-instruments and samples:
Air.flac
Bamboomisen Echoes.iti
Bass Lick.flac
Bottle Dwell Pad.flac
Bowl Spectrum.flac
Closed Hi-hat.flac
Crash.flac [added in the new version]
Deep Snare.flac
DMX Clap.flac
Feedback Pulses.flac
Feedback Pulses.iti
Funk Snare.flac
Hey!.flac
Juno Clone Bass.flac
Linear Algo. Bass.flac
Octo Bass-Lead.iti
Open Hi-hat.flac
Pulse Ensemble.flac
Pulse Ensemble.iti
Ride.flac [added in the new version]
Saw Ensemble.flac
Saw Ensemble.iti
Slap Bass.flac
Solid Kick.flac
Space Bowl.flac
Tri Ensemble.flac
Tri Ensemble.iti

These are very cheesy 80's/90's stuff, all created in OpenMPT with Brainstormer VST plugin with/or samples from other libraries which I can't exactly tell the name of,
but in theory mostly Emax, various Roland and my own old libs with samples created in either audacity with the built-in-generators or instruments/furniture/junk I have at home,
or with OpenMPT (using it like audacity, with the draw tool to create my own samples). Jeez, details ;)

Note that the IT-instruments are packaged in their own zip-file named "TMStarts-ASIKPack Vol 1 IT-INST" - Edit: Not anymore

I hope you will like them, especially "Bottle Dwell Pad", "Feedback Pulses" and "Space Bowl", which are Highend-synth preset patch inspired samples.

Credit is appreciated. In OpenMPT, just type "ASIKWPPack.1" in the "File Name" field in samples tab. Otherwise write in the comments that they've been taken from this pack.
Though I won't force you or get mad if you don't, but it helps others to track down the source (not music-tracking ;-)).

EDIT:
Due to the limits of attachments on this forum and being unable to compress the samples harder, I've uploaded a new version with no "downsampling to fit limit" (some instruments doesn't have full quality in my previous attachment)
This is though all instruments and samples in one neat package ;D

Thanks. I will try to test the samples imported to OpenMPT so soon.

Thanks for sharing!

(and thanks for making me find a bug in OpenMPT that was already supposed to be fixed, those envelope release nodes should not be imported into IT/XM files...)

You're welcome, Jojo.
For me, I have a lots of samples in my library instead of sample files inside the ZIP archive, names as a brands.

So, these are the samples or instruments as a brands such as:
* Korg M1
* Korg Trinity TR Rack
* Roland JD-990
* Roland SC-55
* Roland SC-88
* Yamaha DX7

Never used of my outdated samples (because when I had to deleted) such as
* SNES (Super Nintendo) Instruments
* Mystic Ninja Starring Goemon

But I think this, soundfonts imported into OpenMPT to creating a module of Fasttracker 2 (FT2) as well.

Excuse me Yomaru, I am not trying to be mean, but do you realise that Saga Musix isn't talking to you?

You're welcome Saga x2. Oh yeah the bug that makes envelope-released samples of instrument with release node that doesn't-cut-samples-on-new-note still following the volume envelope on new note for a moment? (Idkh to express it in short words, nightmare sentence :o )
I've noticed in some earlier version of OpenMPT that the behavior of the release-node was changed, making some instruments using that in a specific way sound hilaroius XD. Maybe that was when it appeared?

I guess we are talking about two different bugs here:
1) The release node behaviour was made more logical in OpenMPT 1.28 (currently available for testing) so that it always continues at the same volume when key-off is reached. I guess this is the "hilarious" part you are referring to.
2) The real bug here is that release nodes are not supposed to be usable in IT and XM files at all, and while I did add code to remove them when loading ITI and XI files, this code was executed too early, before the release node was even read from the file.

In 2014, I jacked the fixed behavior release-node, which of course shouldn't be possible, that made me able to create unsustained instruments with release-node

You know how envelopes works with or without release-node.
Well, I don't remember which version of OpenMPT it was, but I did it like this:

1. First you create the Attack-Decay part. This will be like any other curve

2. Then you create the sustain-node at zero with sustain-loop enabled

3. After that, you would make a "skip-node" behind the sustain, also at zero - which is 1 of the 2 factors that make up the bug

4. Lastly, you create the release-curve

I think that the skip-node created enough time-space for the curve to make an miscount in volume offset, so the value of the release-curve became relative to where you was in the AD-curve.

After this was fixed, the value became absolute, no matter of how the curve was constructed. I'd already at the time created modules with instruments making use of this bug; I know it changed the sound in one of those modules, though it didn't make it worse, but that ridicoulus jump-to-full-volume release made it better in a way, which is what I thought was hilarious.

I've though started using Fade-Out as a more release to unsustained instruments nowadays, as it should be ;D.

That's not it, the volume offset was just always calculated in a very hard to understand way (so hard that I couldn't explain off the top of my head how it worked ;D) - I have made it more logical in OpenMPT 1.28 now.

Dug around in my old module map from 2013. It was futher back than I'd remember.

It worked when I used version 1.22

Sound samples of how it sounds

If you use an old instrument in a newly created song in OpenMPT 1.28 - yes, it will sound different. You will need to update those instruments to use the new release node logic. If this is an old, unmodified module sounding different in 1.28 compared to a previous version, it is a bug - please report it on our issue tracker in that case.

Sound samples of how it sounds
is music-previews of a module I created in 2013 using this volume-envelope and when OpenMPT 1.22 was the latest version. It worked at that time

(Notice how the guitar sounds in the previews)
The sample "how it originally sounded" is the module played in it's right version of OpenMPT; 1.22. The sample "how it sounds now" is the same module played in the current version of OpenMPT.
I don't know if it was a bug or not, either way it was changed not so far after in a new version of OpenMPT, then it started sounding tah-taggatagga (the jump-to-full-volume release making an apparent visibility in the distortion plugin) instead of tah-tam-tam.

Then, maybe I should report it on the issue tracker?

Yes, please open an issue about it.
