Title: Online player issues with MT2 files.
Post by: YASHIRO on April 28, 2019, 11:50:50
I've recently uploaded MT2 files and played them back using the online player but I don't hear any effects (Delay, Reverb, Portamento, etc...).

Yes, libopenmpt (or any other external MT2 player, for that matter) does not support the proprietary MadTracker DSPs. I would love to get them integrated some day, but it's a lot of reverse-engineering work.

I considered using other trackers using OpenMPT-friendly files, though that's not a big issue, since you can download the original file.
However, I wonder if MadTracker is commonly used.

I've seen a few MT2 files around especially when Windows made using Fasttracker not worthwhile, but in the grand scheme of things, not that common compared to other tracker formats.

MadTracker hasn't been updated in over ten years, so there are less and less people using it. You can still find some XMs made with MadTracker these days, but MT2 files are harder to find, and I'm sure the playability outside MT2 is one of the factors playing into that. As Axxy said, it was a popular tool 15 years ago.
