Title: Good Modules by Anonymous Artists?
Post by: Slender on August 29, 2019, 19:18:02
Admittedly a lot of anonymous modules tend to not be particularly good, but I'm wondering if there have ever been any decent or good ones floating around. My personal favorite is probably mok_tetr.it (https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=52323). Admittedly Tetris theme remixes are kind of an overdone concept, but I liked this one.

I was going to suggest Moodier (https://modarchive.org/module.php?184631) but then I decided to double-check if ModLand had any updated information... turns out that this track is from the recently-discussed (https://modarchive.org/forums/index.php?topic=4407.09) Ion Fury game and made by Roz ;D

So here are a few more random picks:
Conquest (https://modarchive.org/module.php?170550) (this one is very dear to me, and I know a couple more people who would love to find out who made it)
Origins (https://modarchive.org/module.php?170357)
la-insmn.it (https://modarchive.org/module.php?185713)
White Swan (https://modarchive.org/module.php?185710)
s.v title song(?) (https://modarchive.org/module.php?181967)

Often it's just a matter of having a credited version and an uncredited, unfinished version floating around (as is the case with Moodier). But finding the credited version can be difficult sometimes.

Yep, I did send the credited versions to Modland, a rip appeared not long after the game was published.

I have

la-insmn.it = Insomnia.it by Lasoft
&
White Swan = White Swan.xm by Szudi

I like that conquest module, not heard it before.  The others are also unknown to me as well.

My Unknown folder currently sits at 745. I know some productions strip out superfluous data to save space etc, but I don't understand why some people never credit their work and release it uncredited.  Sometimes you find a few gems and no idea who they're by...

So far my favorite tracks are s.v title song(?) and Conquest. Thanks for sharing these!

Though while I was looking for information on s.v title song(?), I found a video that claims that it appeared on a Korean message board. If this is true, could the question mark in the title have been a Korean name that couldn't be handled by Impulse Tracker?

I just noticed a few other sv6 modules in my unknown folder, they are also here on MA.

I'm wondering if they might be some game music or some addon pack for something.  But looking through some more of these sv files, a couple make reference to some SV music contests or compo'. Is it possible they're from something like that, not sure what the SV stands for though?

It is correct that those SV* modules are of Korean origin, they had some music contests there but currently little about that is known.
